New to this, got questions
Hello,
I'm kinda new to this and I'm barely starting my cycle.... I owned a second hand RSM 250 with sump and refugium.... It gets really hot where I live so definitely I will need a chiller.... I'm looking for a used jbj artica 1/10hp... What is a good decent price for one of these? |

If possible plum chiiler out side/not in same room with DT,I had mine next to DT and every time it turned on it raised the heat in the whole room. Try fans across top of DT and in the stand before you spend money on chiller, fans may keep tank below 82 deg. by them selfs.

right now as it is ... the tank temperature ranges from 79.3-81.5, I had the lights on for about 3 hrs (i'm barely cycling) and 81.5 was the hottest it got, I'm barely going to turn on my AC in my house so hopefully it will keep it a little bit cooler ...

what kind of lighting? how far off the water? Also, as above, do you have any fans blowing across the water? Even the 4" or so computer fans across the surface of the tank or sump can make a significant difference with minimal cost and minimal electricity usage.

I believe the lights are the regular ones that comes with the RSM 250, I do not have any fans blowing across the water yet... will try to add one soon.... I have a sump and refugium

hey snyper if you can one way of cooling your tank is to open your hood up a little bit during the day to allow air to cool the tank i know it will be hard to do that with the rsm tank you have but like other ppl have said just keep fans on the sump during the day and try to kinda keep your house colder at night so it doesn't get to warm during the day hope it helps
