Another GFO question

I started to run a MR1 reactor with HC GFO on my 90 DT last week. I used a half of a cup off Gfo and when I tested the water coming out of the reactor it was .18. I put new Gfo in and it now test .12 coming out of the reactor. I tested it right after the change, was that too fast and should it be that high?
I have the Hanna HC 713 checker.

Thanks for the help in advance.

How high is your phosphate in the DT?

Most likely the GFO needs to run for a little while before it starts taking any affect.

Depending on how fast the water was running through the reactor, you can certainly measure phosphate in the output. There is also the possibility of channeling in any chemical media - essentially the water running through the channel is bypassing the media and exiting the reactor unprocessed.

Does that mean I should keep checking it at the reactor output and if it goes above .12 change the Gfo? Hopefully it goes lower?

When I started with high phosphates I was using up gfo extremely quickly. The more water volume you have the quicker you can use up a small amount of gfo.

Are we talking daily Gfo changes?
