Help! Fish are disappearing!!
Hi, I'm fairly new to the hobby...I have a 45 gallon tank and have put several small fish in the tank recently (all previous fish were wiped out-ICK) to make sure the tank is ready for bigger, more expensive fish. I am noticing that they are disappearing and are NO WHERE to be found. I do have a few anemones, one being a green carpet anemone. Could this be the culprit? Any other ideas?? Thanks

The green carpet can eat fish. It has a very strong sting. How long did you leave the aquarium fallow (empty) after your ich outbreak. Also some parameters would help.

Also, what fish are you adding? They may hide in sand or rock.

I left it empty for a few weeks and am running a UV stabilizer. I bought a few fish here and there and looked perfectly healthy and had disappeared by morning. I have taken all rock out to rearrange my tank and they were no where....

What do you have for a CUC???
Things like hermit crabs will take care of dead fish in a couple hours if left alone....

I'm suspecting your green carpet anemone as well. They eat fish.

What type of fish are you adding? How are you acclimating the fish? How large of a tank? How much rock? How old is the tank? What are the tanks current water parameters?

Those and the mantis, if you had them in the same aquarium work very well together to wipe out near all reef aquarium life forms. |
