Magnesium Question
we have a biocube 29 hqi
and i added 1 level teaspoon of 'Reef Advantage Magnesium' my wife is freaking out saying i added way 2 much and i overdosed it and is acting like the whole tank is going to die.. tho i only used 1 teaspoon. like the instruction says. im not sure of our mag levels - but this is only the 2nd time we have added any magnesium to the tank in 4 months (thats how old the tank is) the salt we use in our tank is instant ocean reef crystals. can anyone tell me anything |

Mag supplements are mostly water. It takes an insane amount to even budge the magnesium a little bit. You haven't done anything bad. You've barely made any change.

Not that anyone's getting ripped off, it's just that magnesium chloride and magnesium sulfate tend to absorb a ridiculous amount of water from the air. There's really little that can be done about it. So any time you get a mag supplement it's going to be mostly water.

As disc1 said...you are fine. However, if you are going to add anything to your tank, I would highly recommend testing. Just my cents...it is likely to help in the future.

+1 on testing before you dose. It's just good practice.
