Cyno or dinoflagellates

Hello

Having a outbreak of something in my tank LFS said it was dinoflagellates and told me to use MicroBacter7.

It kinda looks like cyno also

2 fish have died because of this too.

but I am not sure any help greatly appreciated

Thanks Kent

Do have any other pictures? Now is it red in color or brown? When you turn off your powerheads and dust up the algae. Do you see white looking string hanging in the water? Is there bubbles hanging from the algae? Does it feel like snot and is it hairy?

Edit: Parameters? Always state this when you want help.

How old is your tank? Dont listen to your LFS right away and never just put any thing from a bottle in without researching first.

Look like cyno to me.
Your nitrates and phos wouldn't actually be reading 0 the algae is consuming those nutrients , giving a false reading on the test kits.
siphon out as much as possible and do lots of water changes.Your tank doesn't look like its fully cycled yet, very young and new. Thats probably what killed your fish, cyno doesn't generally kill fish.

I had very very bad dino. Looks like that but brown and covered in bubbles. Usually causing the snot to float holding the bubbles like balloons. That is likely cyano.
