Intake clearance

How close to sump wall can i go with intake before it impacts water flow, i have 1.5" from sump wall. Not sure why they put bulheads for outlet so close to back of sump, only way to get a straight vertical setup is to point intake backwards. I was going to try the other direction but will have to kink hose alot to make curve

1.5” from the wall should be just fine. You can gain even more clearance by removing the intake union fitting.

Any chance you can post a picture of the sump you are talking about?

Union isn’t needed but you should be fine with it on there. You could come out of the return with a couple 45’s to step it out a bit and then use a barb with a shorter piece of tubing.
