High alkalinity with 3 part
I would like to start using the aquaforest 3 part dosing regime but i run a higher nutrient sps tank with an alkalinity of 11dkh and am going to keep it that way. I noticed on the aquaforest guide it states to bring alkalinity down to around 8dkh and to use their 3 part to maintain that parameter. Will this be a problem? I assume it says that in the guide because aquaforest salts have a dkh of around 8 am i correct?

Hello,
We recommend to keep KH over 7-8 because in this level calcium absorptionis the best and we also recommend to dose Component 1+2+3+ equally. If you want to keep KH that high you can dose KH Plus or KH Buffer extra. But there is no chance to dissolve more KH Buffer than 80g/1L RO. |

So will that be a problem? Maybe im not explaining myself properly but it feels like im pulling teeth here. I just want to know if there will be any problems with dosing the 3 part in aqual proportions to maintain my current dkh of 11. Or do i need to offset the doses slightly? It may be a silly question i dont know im not a chemist just trying to understand

We recommend to keep parameters like this:
Ca: 400-450 KH:6,5-8,0 Mg:1250 - 1400 If you want to keep only KH higher (even if we do not recommend) you can use KH Buffer or KH Plus. When you will dose Component 1+2+3+ equally your calcium and magnesium will also rise. |

I’m confused here. If you use KH buffer to raise KH only and then dose equal parts of all 3 components then why would they rise ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If you use KH buffer to raise your KH only and calcium and mag are within the recommended ranges....then dose equal parts of component 1,2,3 to maintain these levels based on your daily alk consumption then why would calcium and magnesium levels rise? I’m confused....

Hello,
If you will dose Component 1+2+3+ equally - all parameters will be higher. Thats why we recommend to dose Component 1+2+3+ equally and dose separately KH Plus or KH Buffer to keep your KH higher. But.. imbalance like this is not good for corals. Here is video explaining Component 1+2+3+ dosage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urLrgWH-KMI |
