Tunze 5074 Calcium Dispenser
I paid $95 for this thing and from day one it spills kalk back into my ATO container, essentially nullifying its purpose. The check valve clogs constantly, and yes it is set up correctly. I've been in contact with Tunze and while their customer service is good, this is just a really bad product. And the worst part is that I don't even feel comfortable selling it to anyone for any price, so I'm stuck holding the bag. It's a really, really overpriced and poor-functioning product. Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't have taken it even for free. |

Sicce Syncra "SILENT" is not so silent. I just bought a Jebao that's much cheaper, controllable, and SILENT!

new apex..... awesome thing to have but I didn't know you had to be computer smart to know how to use one. Im not good with computers so having to write code and all that crap isn't for me. And I wish I just got a 5 foot sump in the beginning instead of the 3 foot I have now

Not a fan of the BRS reactors. I got a TLF one though and so far I have liked it a lot more.
BRS one was just super clunky and heavy. Every time I unscrewed it it spilled water everywhere and it always seemed to have a horrible time sealing. My TLF one I have no has been perfect. On the flip side of this topic, my Gyre knockoff jebao cp-40 was definitely worth the "money". It was like 1/3 the price of a Gyre and although I had to send the first one back after ~4 months the replacement has been working for about 8 months now without issue. The first one I ran on the alternating mode where it switches clockwise/counter clockwise. I think that put a ton of strain on the motor; it eventually broke. With the replacement I just run it on steady state. My fish haven't complained.

10 gallon tanks for me. They break or chip just by looking at them. I am going to buy 20 tall instead for 1$ per gallon and fill it half way for 10gallons

Bagin black box Chinese lights. They may be ok, but in this hobby, OK is not what you want on a primary system like lighting. You need phenomenal, thus name brand and expensive lighting.
Also, reactors aside from BRS units. Most suck, BRS branded units are t he best. Live rock, just go dead, then you know exactly what is being put in your tank. Pepermint shrimp, they dont eat apstasia, at all, bastards. What I you get again...2 watt LED laser to kill pest. Awesome, dangerous so safety first and read alot!

1. Seaclone, anything from White cap before and after they went out of business. (didn't honor warranty)
2. MP 40. Water gets in the magnet. Stored it rusts. loud as hell, admitted or not. Won't stay on a 240 cube. 3. Any type controller. keeps you burning money on this piece and that piece. You will spend more time re programming them when the firmware expires than actually using them. 4. Mazzara P's- dumbest gimmick ever. lights won't stay in any fixed position. 5. After 15 years in the hobby I have seen a lot of fads and money come and go for bragging rights. I prefer a "Berlin style" tank with the least amount of mechanical input as possible. If you can stay away from the shiny promises, you will save a lot of money and time.

Petco has awesome deals & stuff!
Each location has there own reputation depending on their staff. My locations have awesome staff & tanks which is better than our local pet stores that try to compete. |

I'll never buy ((( black carbon ))) ever again since I started using Purigen since it works far better, and also renewable just by using bleach.
Saves me money and Purigen also promotes Redox too! |
