Any ATI Essential users on here?
Hello want to start dosing ATI Essentials not pro but the three part. My tank volume after displacement is 200L and my tank is using 0.4 dkh per 24hrs. I’ve mixed the products 1 part product to 9 parts RO.
What much should I be dosing? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Determining how much a tank is consuming requires some measurements. I'd try dosing 1 dKH, and then measure 24 hours later, to see what the level is like. You can work from there. It might take a few days of dosing and testing, especially if you have a standard resolution hobbyist alkalinity kit, but it'll work. You can dose the calcium part in equal quantities, although skipping it for a few days is likely fine. Is the third part magnesium?

Hi yes the third part is magnesium.
The readings I have Friday 7.9 Saturday 7.5 Sunday 7.4 Test done with Hanna I know you dose calcium (2)and magnesium (3) at the ml as Alk (1). But I don’t know how to find my starting dose per hour? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Okay, I agree that the tank is going to consume something like 0.4 dKH per day. The company web site doesn't seem to have much information, or at least is hard to navigate. Is there any data on concentration on the bottles or packaging?

You dilute the solution to 1 part product to 9 parts ro water.
It says 36ml of ati increases the KH value of 100L of aquarium water by 1KH. The dosage of 2 and 3 are determined from the dosage of essentials 1. Does that make sense? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I had started a dose 20ml over 24hrs and my alk went from 8 to 9 in 24hrs. So I’ve now I’ve halved my dose.
Any help would be appreciated tho Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes, that makes sense. So to raise 200 L of water by 1 dKH, one should add 2 * 36 = 72 ml, and to raise it by 0.4 dKH should be 0.4 * 72 = 28.8 or about 29 ml. So your dose actually went up by 1 dKH with a 20 ml dose? Sigh! I'd just try experimentation. What is the precision of the alkalinity kit?
Adding more alkalinity will encourage consumption, so the tank might actually need more over time, but some experimentation should give you a good starting point.

Thanks for your reply. I use the Hanna checker for alk. I always do two executive tests and they are always spot on. I’ve now halved my dose is that right? Then I will test again tomorrow?

Halving the dose is a fine guess. I would test every day for a while. Hopefully, you'll get a good trend line fairly quickly.

Tested 12 hrs in from my last test and it’s now 9.4. It does recommend mixing a batch of 10 litres of product so you get an even product but I didn’t do that I mixed 1 litres worth, maybe it’s concentrated. Should I turn my doser off and let it fall naturally? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So 12hrs later it has dropped to 9.1 and the doser has been off 12 hours

Turning off the doser for a while should be fine.

I think that your guess of 0.4 dKH per day looks to be close. Personally, I would dose by hand for a while, to get a handle on the actual concentration of this supplement. I might try 10 ml, and measure 10 minutes later. That will get possible doser issues off the table.

Maybe. That depends on the doser design. Peristaltic pumps should prevent siphoning.

I think I know what I’ve done wrong l. I started my dosing on 20ml per 24hrs so I did 20 * 24=0.8 but I set my doser to 8ml per hour instead of 0.8ml per hour

It’s looks as tho the smallest dose you can do on my jeabo doser is 1ml. Is that normal for doser? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I am not sure. I used MasterFlex pumps, and they are very adjustable, although costly if bought new.
