Montipora dying, while polypes are fully opened
Hello,
My red beautiful montipora is dying from below, yet the polyps are fully open. All other corals are ok, the water parameters are typical stable, no any recent changes. No pests observed.. Any ideas? https://ibb.co/6HB9pJt |

From the picture it looks like it's shaded below by the new growth above. If that's the case, then this is normal. Corals grow new polyps above and overtime will shade the polyps below, causing a die off in the shaded area. But the top lives on and keeps generating new polyps. That's how it is in the ocean also. Hope this helps.
