Question Magnesium sky high at 1950!!!!!

I cannot believe it but my mg is at 1950!!!!!!!!!!!
it has been that high for over a month!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The new salt water I put in is 1620....
I changed at least 50 gallons and the MG did not drop!!!!!!!!!

i AM STUMPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any ideas? The test kit is a brand new Salifert! Is 1620 for freshly mixed saltwater not high>??? FRitz blue box new!

The rock in the tank is brand new Marco
Tank is 160 gallon...only set up for 4 months.

I would suggest verifying those numbers with a different test kit. It's possible to have a bad test kit.

did a test with another kit

OK My buddy brought his MG Salifert kit over and tested and
his reading is 200 ppm less then mine...

So he does not know if his kit is too low by 200 or mine is too high by 200

I will bring water sample to LFS tommorow and see what reading they get.

We suspect my brand new Salifert MG kit is defective...
