Lyretail Anthias Question
I’ve had a group of four Lyretail Anthias for almost four years; a male and three females. The male was larger, with a slightly more vibrant orange color and brighter pink patches on his fins.
The male died about a month ago, and now the largest female is transitioning into a male. However, it’s looking completely different than the other previous male. This anthias has a darker, dusky red head and a darker, almost purple dorsal, pectoral and tail fins. Is this a normal male morph? This photo shows the contrast between this new male and the existing Lyretails. The previous male had coloration similar to the other Lyretail in this pic.

That's pretty much how my male lyretail looks. I'm sure there are some differences between fish caught in different locations.

Thanks. I just thought it was weird that it looks so much different than the male it's replacing.
