Calcium Precipitation?
I have noticed lately that when I add calcium,Magnesium,Strontium or even salt water during a water change, there is a precipitate that forms. It looks like tiny white specks and will dissipate in minutes or hours depending on what substance and amount was added. Reef tank inhabitants seem to be fine. I have been having trouble with my strontium test results and was told that high calcium carbonate could cause this test to malfunction. Basic test values seem to be normal.
Ca 380 dkh 11 ph 8.2 Mg 1200 Sg 1.022 If all these values are within normal range, what could be causing this "snowstorm" effect? |

I do not know what that might be in this situation. There should be no significant precipitate with adding new salt water,or calcium, magneisum, or strontium chloride. What exactly are you adding?

Just a sidenote, your SG is a little low. Seawater is closer to 1.025 or 1.026. It won't solve your precipitate problem but your critters may be a little happier.
