Liquid Hobby - its been about a month now since you posted pictures (updates) of your tank - let see those full tank and corals / fishes pictures.

I hear ya. My copperband has eaten the feelers off all the snails, and probably both peppermint shrimp as well. He is terrible, but a big baby when the clowns bang into him when I come to the tank. The female perc follows him around and rubs up against him.

Hey - I see my chromis picking at algae on the megaflow and seaswirl - do yours pick at anything?

LH, the Ric is considered a softie....And yes I am dosing calcium....

Here is a secret....if you dose kalk your coral (SPS) with grow fast but brittle and delicate....raw calcium produced more dense coral, with slightly slower growth rates.....

All righty then!

The tank is just shy of 4 months old, still in it's infancy.

Here's the lastest FTS. I did not turn off the pumps... I just got a blue acro, front and center.

and a side view, thru the left side, for good measure:

I am thinking of a calcium reactor as well.....Just trying to figure out where I am goind to put it......

BTW, everything looks nice and settled.....a couple months growth and you will be out of space

I have not witnessed the chromis chromping salad.

However, I did see the fox face eat all types of green in my tank before he was sucked up against the CL strainer for the better part of the day. I was away on business... The wife got to him when it was too late, he was completely gone the next day, pooof-consumed!

LH you have the worst luck with fish. There must be some serious suction going on to trap a foxface, unless he was already weak somehow.

I will not replace the fox face.

I will keep the current fish populaiton steady.

No MH lights for me, at least not on a 40.

I was just viewing my corals with a magnifying glass and noticed flat worms on the acro.

Well, at least I'm getting all this bad tank stuff you read about around here outta the way early! Now I'll be able to ID these creatures, algae and ICH more readily in the future...

Well, I've got a 1200GPH pressure rated pump pushing the closed loop. He swam past it 1 minute after being dropped in the tank and got sucked in right off the bat! He had a short memory. He had a short memory.

goodness! I can't be doing more than 500 on the return and when I crank it open to more than 1/2 way, the clowns get blown against the side walls. I think they like it though but the wife thinks I am torturing them.

My loop splits to 5 outlets around the tank, spliting up 1000 GPH amongst the 5 nozzles. The return is probably 300+ GPH.

LH, you have flat worms......that isnt good at all bro.....those buggers are hard to get rid off.....I dip all the SPS stuff I get before i put it in the tank...I can point you to a few threads detailing how to using different methods of gettingrid of em....

What I thought were flat worms are really just dark spots on the acro that look to be little polyp buds, or areas were a little nub is sprouting.

You need to make a bubble trap in your sump to take care of the micro bubble problem. Check out melevsreef.com for excellent pics and info.

yeah, yeah, I know. Most of the micro bubbles are coming from my closed loop not the return. I moded the CL plumbing so I can effect water changes via the CL plumbing, there is a fitting that leaks and has tons of salt creep on it. I've just not had the time to break it down and reseat the fitting properly. It's on the list...

The Goby does a really good job of kicking up sand during the way. I like my DIY calfo overflow, however, one bad part is that it does not 'collect' water from the water column, rather as it is intended, it just skims the surface water off. Not much sand and sediment hangs on the surface so that sediment stays suspended and resettles. Many if not all, the Reef Ready tanks I see have a screen for water intake about half way down the overflow box in the tank. I believe the theory is that pulls water from the column while the top does the skimming. That design is probably better are removing sand and sediment that is suspended in the colmun. That is, if it works as advertised!

That Scolymia is my favorite! I was wanting it from the very first day I stepped into the LFS and saw it! Now it's MINE! waaahahahahaha!

LH, my goby does the same thing, usually during feeding time, but disappears after 10 minutes or so.....the closed loop should keep it from settling too much though.

I think a sexy shrimp would go well with that Scolymia, or are you going to get another crab any time soon?
