If you do a search for my posts you will find it. I did full tests when I switched. It was something like 39% on 700 was the same PAR as 65% on 2 360s. The deeper u went the worse it got for the 360s.

Thanks. Are the 700 pucks more than 90 watts each?

But each output can be daisy chained separately.

As I said, I'm not sure what your goal is by having them in parallel. Each light requires its own separate power source.
I wanted to run a single wire out to each light instead of 2. ( excluding power) If its a simply 2 0-10v inputs i would think you could Y them before you go out to the light. Im guessing the in/out are just connected together inside the light for convenance.

I hated all the wires hanging off the gooseneck, i hadnt seen the newer mounts. With the newer mounts an extra wire isnt as big of a deal. Also i think i may go with the 700 anyway. ( even fewer wires lol )

Thats a video showing a close up of all the led matrixes. If that helps. The 700 looks different to me, not just the lens.

A360 programming

Hi. Setting up a 6 ft 210 and am going to use 3 A360W tuna blues. What's the best and least expensive way to control them? Can I daisy chain them?
I don't have an apex so considering purchasing the kessil controller.

You're gonna have a lot of shadowing. I had 4 on a 59" and that was about right for a mixed tank.

I would buy a controller and daisy chain them with 1/8" mini jack cables.

Damn

I just found out that my original 1st gen. A360 W tuna blue doesn't work with any controllers and can't be daisy chained. There aren't any plugs in them. ( Yep, I 've had Kessil since they first came out.)

I will have to buy all newer ones for them to be controlled.

I'm getting back into the hobby and have seen the AP700 in action on a few tanks. I'm very impressed with the controllability and the shimmer of the unit. Getting a 150 gallon tank 48" long x 24" wide x 30" tall. Should one AP700 be enough for most corals and a few SPS near the surface of the water? Where's the best place to find a good deal on a used one or a discounted new one? Thanks!!
Dave

Sps need to be placed between the pucks for a more even spread.

At 24" wide n 30" deep, 1 AP700 may not be ideal. Might need to supplement.

I just bought an Apex and ordered the RJ45 to 3.5mm cable to ramp my Kessil. My application will require a much longer cord. Does anyone know if I can use a standard 3.5 female to male connector to accommodate the length I will require?

Thanks

Great, more questions... I have manually set my intensity on the Kessil up to this point. Once hooked up is there any way to determine the intensity setting of the manual set up? If possible I would like to keep the intensity the same, and gradually increase from where there are now. I have no idea on what intensity it is actually set at via knob.

Once hooked up do the knobs need to be turned in any specific position or are the positions overridden and have no impact?

Thanks,

When

Use a PAR meter or guess. The knobs don't do anything when the control cables are connected.

This is completely false. The cable must be stereo.

It might be easier to tell if you turn the color all the way up and then switch back and forth between the knobs and control cable until they appear to be the same intensity.

I've always bought my 3.5mm cables off ebay (Cheap). I am using the A Series mounts and have a light running off my primary light. I am using a female to male 3.5mm cheap cable I got off the auction site to connect both of the lights for added lenght. No issues with it at all.

I have the Apex wire and an an extension... I have set up the profiles following the BRS videos. I figured I could tweak as I go along in terms of color and intensity.

One thing that I noticed running the lights this way is that I am getting a deviation of light throughout the day. Not specifically ramping as I thought they would perform,(ramp up of intensity & from blue to white, etc...) but rather like a cloud effect at times? The aquarium is not on its own circuit, could another item such as the heater or an appliance effect the current which causes the light to dim and later brighten?

I did not experience anything like this when the lights were set via knobs manually.

Thanks,

-Ed

I set the intensity to a constant 70% and left only the color to ramp, it appears that it is no longer changing like temporary cloud coverage.

Looks like I'll need to look over my settings...

Locally they only had 6' (both male ends)I ended up ordering online since I needed at least 14' and they had the female to male connection. It was half the price and a much better quality cable. I had to wait 2 days, but it was the better choice.
