thatgrimguy- is that an ats on the right side top of the tank? If so how long have you been running it and do you like it?

It is an ATS, I have been running it for almost a year now and I'll never run another fish tank without one. Reef, fowlr, or fresh. Unless it's a planted tank I guess (they don't work with planted tanks)

It's amazing. I still do w/c and run a protein skimmer etc. I just use it to mop up any excess n and p, I feed like a kinder-gardener with his first tank and haven't registered Nitrate since it cycled (took about 4-6 weeks) I clean it about every other week. Takes about 10-15minutes to clean.

I found it quite refreshing to see someone using the Sol units mounted different directions. It's really quite efficient and ensures the lights blend together well - though I realize you wouldn't have blending issues with three lights over a 40g!

I have a 36x36 tank and plan to run two side by side until adding a possible third, oriented the other way as you have.

What schedule do you recommend?

This tank's dimensions are actually 38.5"x24"x24".
Two modules created enough shadows to be very noticeable so three was a nice solution.

Here are a few pics of my newly restarted 210 gal. tank with 4 AI SOL Blues. At peak intensity, I run them at 65W 75B 75RB for 6 hours of the day. They are mounted about 12" AWL. The tank just completed cycling about 3 weeks ago. No corals yet. I only have a pair of B&W clowns and a very small CUC. Excuse the crappy cell phone pics.

I have had no problem keeping blues and purples under my AI Sol blues, they are deep rich blue and purple, like Oregon torts and purple acros. My hardest is my reds, they tend to get pink/orangish.

Time will tell but at the moment, I'm most pleased with the latest 12 watt addition
Tom,

What is your take on the addition of the magenta stunner strip now that you've had them on there for some time? I'm looking to get a little more color out of my corals (mainly the reds & oranges) and was wondering if it was worth it? Currently I'm running a 48x12x12 with 4 AI Sol Blues over it.

I'm also in the planning stages for lighting a 68Lx36Wx32H reef tank. Current thought is to run 10 AI Sol Blus over it with 60" of magenta stunner down the middle.

Thanks,
John

Piling on with another question:

I have 3 ai units, 3 blue, 3 white. I'm configuring a 5 unit pendant. If you had the choice would you go white/blue/white/blue/white or Blue/white/blue/white/blue?

Thanks in advance

Old thread bump!

So after a couple of years, does anyone have before and after pics of SPS tanks lit with the AI Sol? My corals are surviving under them after a year, but not thriving like they did under MH.
