Alright I have a 66" tank and was thinking of getting the photon48 for the tank instead of two photon24's. There is a substantial price difference. I am just curious if the light will be adequate for the tank. The tank is mostly Anemone but I do keep some heavy light needing nems like magnificas. The last 6 inches on both sides of the tank do not have rockwork so they do not need much light. I was thinking that a 48 would work fine as my current metal halide fixture is 60 inches but from bulb to bulb only measures 45" or so. The light works perfect to cover the tank currently (3x250w MH). I can hang the LEDs as high as 12" over the water if needed and could also swap out some of the end LED's with 120 optics if it would make it cover. The tank is 30" deep with a 2" sand bed so I may have some clams 28" under water. They will be in the middle though directly under the light so would they be fine? Also I can run the light at 100% if needed since most people on here seem to be running theres more around 60%. Thanks for the input. p.s., Ill add a picture of the tank when I get photobucket to work right.
Tyler

A photon 48 would work fine for that application.

I was thinking the same thing. I was going to go with 2 24's.... but in reality that would just spread the light out a little further, have the same number of bulbs, and cost me about 160$ more (which almost pays for another light).

I tried searching but couldn't find anything on 10 watt LEDs from China. I know there not as efficient but has anyone tried them? I have a 40 breeder and I'm going to build an array with 4 cool white 4 royal blue 1 red and will most likely add 1 green and 1 violet. I may also switch 2 cw for ww or nw. Thoughts?

New member here... Not sure if you guys have discussed this yet or not but do you all know anything about the E27 54w LED lights from china? I have a 40 gallon breeder and want to go from T5s to LED. I was thinking about building a setup for 4 of these lights to put over my tank. Rough estimate on cost is about 120 for the lights and maybe 20 for the build. Any body have any suggestions or input on this idea?

I think those are white and blue only from what I have seen and for the cost (around 140) you could just get an evergrow or reefbreeder value type fixture and hang it a little higher.

For a 40 breeder, one or two Reef Breeders Value/ Evergrows would get the job done. |

I have a question on programming a Photon fixture. When programming the "Custom" settings, do I need to "Save" each step (each hour, for example) or do I set each step, preview, and then "Save"?

I have a 58 gallon (36" long, 18" wide, 21" tall), what would everyone recommend that I get to grow mostly LPS and a few sps. One D120? Two D120's? Or one Photon 32? Or is there anything else out that would be more suitable and not too expensive?

How long do these fixtures tend to last? Perhaps I should ask how long are they expected to last since they are so new.
Thank you Mike |

1 photon 32 for the 36 would be great, but a d120 high enough or a photon 24 would work too, with some side shadowing.
