1. channel* 3 royal blue460nm*for moon lights*
2.*channel* 30 royal *blues460nm*************
3. channel**29 whites 14000k,*8 whites 10000k *2 red 630nm, 2 green 515nm, 2 orange 610nm, 2 violet 440nm, 2 uv 400nm

Think this is to much white? Channels have to be 3 30 and 47 led

I would get neutral and cool white instead. I wouldnt do both 630 and 610 just do 630. Also you want something between those uv and violet instead closer to 420.

I don't think they do 420.

Chicago I'm in the same boat as you. Seem to be going in circles. The second I decide on something someone else posts something new or a different color and you rethink it all.

Which unit has 80 led? Is it a 4ft fixture? Link? Price?

I need 8ft of light and keep waffling between 4 small fixtures or 2 larger ones. It would be nice to simplify.

Ok so I got mine yesterday and set it up tonight in my canopy and all I have to say is awesome! I was worried about it being too blue but thats whats great about the dimmers. As long as my corals grow I will be very happy. One question if I have the dimmer lets say to 50% does that effect the spectrium for growth or does it just effect brightness? I did choose to tilt the light to the front of the aquarium to fix some shadows but I also have a lot of LR in my display. Again very happy with the light!

From what I understand no it does not change the spectrum, only the brightness.

Correct. Age will effect spectrum and brightness as well.

Got my lights back on this last Wednesday, but did not have a chance to finish the diy hanging fixture until today. So here they are; the first couple of pix are my Aquaticlife T5 with ATI bulbs, and the last three are the led fixtures.

No. I got the a4. Uses a different connection than the d120

Those pictures file are not too big...not sure what happened. Anyway, I did resized them. Hopefully, they work this time. The third pix is 100% blue, fourth is 100% white, and last pix is both on at 100%.

How did you do that hanging fixture? Looks good I need to do something similar.

Nice setup. Did you make the hanger out of electrical conduit?

Possible new game plan, Simon is convinced I can use 2 fixtures on my tank due to the spread they put out even w 60* optics, I'm not so sure tho as I have 2 cross braces in my tank since its 6 ft long. What about 3 non dimmable ones that I hang higher and slowly acclimate my tank that way but my tank is 30 inches tall do the lights will be 38 inches or so from the bottom of the tank.
Thoughts......
Corey

cmantis and mlot132,

I used two 10' 3/4" conduit pipes, 4 corner elbows, 4 conduit clamps ans screws, a can of primer and a can of black flat protective enamel from HD. Chopped them off to your measurements. Very quick and easy to do.

My led fixtures are only 6" from the water surface...I need to raise them up to 8". The question is does it really matter? What do you think?

Before I had to tear my tank down for my big move I tried my 2 120s over my 150 (6' tank w/2 braces) just to see how they looked compared to my a4's. I would not recommend going only with 2. The shadows that are created are pretty obvious when the lights are on. If you didn't have the braces and were going to keep any SPS directly under the fixtures it might have an OK spread but I think 3 is still the minimum you would want.

i have a couple for sale if anyone is interested. i ordered 5 to get a better price cut on shipping, put two on my tanks and have the rest left to sell. they are the 55x3, 2 cord, dimmable 3w. 630 ma drivers, really well made. 90 degree optic, 30 blue 460nm, 14000k white.

pm me if you are interested.

Anyways, I really like your moon light idea, did you run a third smaller power supply on that, or a tap off one of the 2 main drivers?

Also, I was on the fence about the electronic lights with the lcd. So you guys are having success with these?

Chicago

I concur. I am thinking about the 80 light unit also, but I wanted to get it with 120 degree optics instead of the 90 degree optics I was planning with the 55 LED unit. I felt having more LED's in the same size unit would allow me to spread the light out to get better coverage front to back. If they can only do 60 degree with all those extra lights it may lead to more problems than benefits.

Is there any point in getting UV leds installed into these units as well? I thought I read somewhere that UV light is not good and will promote algae growth like MH and T-5 give off.

I am planing once again to order another fixture but like the controlling one and Twilight seems to have more options as well as led's available so I want to be sure and get the most for my tank.

BTW, I am selling my D120 once the other unit comes in.

UV/Violet 420nm is good for coral growth. What don't you like about the d120? My two should be arriving tomorrow.

Great thread you guys. I built a DIY fixture a little over a year agao and am very happy with it. However, the D120 fixtures intrigue me because of their clean look. I have a ~145gal 3'x3' cube that is rimless and open on the top. My current diy fixture is ~14K and is growign coral real well. I have no doubt that these chinese LEDs are capable of growign corals with great colors. Im tempted to get 4xd120 lights for a cleaner look than what I currently have. I have read how a lot of ppl on this thread are liking their fixtures and that is very encouriging. Here is a current pic of my tank under the DIY fixture. Im using 3watt chinese built LEDs I got from Steve's LEDs. Would like the fixture about 18-20" above the water level so I think 60 Degree optics would be the way to go. I would probably need 4 D120 fixtures or would that be an over kill? Has anyone ordered these with 60 Optics? How high are you hanging these.
