What color? Probably either brittle stars or bristle worms, both beneficial scavangers.

I have these small white disk covering my rocks. They will typically come of when brushed but some require much more pressure to remove. Any ideas how to get rid of it? My entire tank has turned white and looks like snow because of them.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask but how many fish can I put in a 55 gallon tank? I want to run a reef tank with live rock and sand. I will use a refugium(20 gal) with a protein skimmer and UV light.

My guess would be spirorbid worms. These are just harmless filter feeders that usually show up in an abundance in new tanks. As the tank matures though, usually the population will decline. I wouldn't worry about them too much.

this take is almost 4 years old. I'm not worried about them but i have billions of them and all my rocks are white. I swear they popped up in a matter of weeks.

They maybe spirorbid worms, if so how do i get rid of them? All my live rock looks like it just snowed in the tank i have so many. About a year ago i had a AEFW outbreak and decided to go SPS free for over a year to make sure they are all gone. Now is time to start stocking SPS and i want to make sure these little guys are not going to cause any trouble.

Curious what this little guy is? From what I can tell he's a nudibranch of some sort? Anyone know if he's safe or not?

I have a few things that came in a coraline cluster that I'm trying to identify. Can anyone help? Ones a nudibranch but I'm not sure what type. Other thing is a red spongy like thing with mounds and holes in it. Very odd.

Wondering what kind of crab this is. About the size of a pencil eraser. Pulled it out of my elegance coral and has been on it for months since I got the coral.
I kept thinking it was part of the coral.

Hey Justin,

The one with the holes is actually a kind of chiton (Cryptoplax). It won't hurt anything. I'll defer on the spongy thing, but it isn't harmful.

Cheers,

Don

Anyone has an clue what this is?
It has a hard shell and it can make itself like a ball, when touched.

I thought the sphagetti worms were white ? These seem to never come out of the hard cylinder structure and they grow directly on the coral. Im wondering if they affect the coral because the sps which have them on them seem to not be growing anymore and looking pale.

I have the same thing growing in my tank and they go out when I feed the fish. My Mandarin is keeping them under control.

Your pic is blurry but look up vermatid snails. They live in hard tubes. You will recognize them by the strings of mucous they produce to capture food. That mucous can bother coral.

ID help please

Hi, I am very new, and am hopeful that someone will help ID these guys for me. Not the best for picture quality, but the best I could get.

Is this an Aiptasia?

Possibly a Kenya Tree Coral?

What I believe to be a feather duster?

Any help is much appreciated

Found two things swimming after lights up tonight. They appear to be worms of some sort, about a half inch long, swimming upwards in a tight corkscrew fashion. Any ideas what they might be? My Clown tried to eat one but spit it out twice, after which the worm swam away...

Could be epitokes, part of the reproductive cycle of polychaete worms.

Thanks, Sugar. Perhaps that explains the weird firm jelly globs near the water's surface in my tank. Was thinking they were snail eggs.
