i have mine in 8 inches of water and now up to 1 inch deep of skimmate in cup, not sure why but if i turn outflow tube up two were water drain out onto water letting air out instead of outflow tube completely submersed under water it performs better, not sure if there is som kind of back pressure from water flow or air.

How much noise do these skimmers make? I am going for a silent tank and they advertise that they are silent. Can you guys give me some feedback. Do you hear a humm?

Hey guys, When will this foam production go down a little its going foam crazy! Also I have never used a wedge pipe before. When i line the open sticker and the arrow sticker it will be a the lowest water level, right? I keep having it overflow. Any help would be awesome.

Gorey- Do you have any pics of this foam crazy jive? If you have the stand/wedge pipe fully opened, and the water level is still to high you can do a couple of things:
#1: Lower the water level around the skimmer(in sump).
#2: Raise the entire skimmer by placing a stand under the skimmer.
#3: Cut the wedge pipe so the tee is lower.

Well m still getting alot of foam, but i have had the plug out of the bottom so everything was just going back into the sump. I think that may have something to do with all the foam, that and the fack that i have been shutting it off everytime i leave the house as well. I think im going to put the plug back in and just start collecting the skimmate from now on and through it out. I just dont want it to overflow. I got it all the way open and its in about 6 to 7 inches of water. Maybe it just needs time to break in. what do ya think?

just ro/di water. But the tank water is about 80% fresh made water. I only got about 10 gallons of water saved when i did the tank change. But i still have no fish in there.

The fresh tank water could have something to do with it. I had the same issue with my bermuda skimmer when I first set up my tank.

And I never had an issue with the pump stopping. weird

I checked the pump when it stopped again. its seems like the impaler is not spinning. If I manually move it it would start up again but couple of minutes later it would stop again. I made sure that it was sitting properly. I guess i will call marine depot for a replacement pump....

Are you using a mesh modded impeller or a PW?
Those #'s seem good.

Got an IN-180 running for a couple of weeks now. Pump is dead silent, just gotta put a silencer on the air intake. Absolutely LOVE the thick nasty gunk this thing is pulling from my lightly stocked 110.
