There are four. AND no one told me how fast those stupid things really grow. They are a major pain.

You should see what those blue and purple corals are like

Amazing how small a world it is sometimes. He tells me you just love people to bring all their sump parts to your house so you can build it for them. Says it is the one thing you absolutely LIVE FOR!!!

I can't tell you how excited I was to hear that.
Well, that might be overstating things a tad. I do try to be helpful. If you want to visit some time, just PM me.

Do you have any head-on shots, Bomber? If you took them head-on and slightly down hill (standing on a chair perhaps), I bet a lot more color could be seen. The bottom line is that we see much more color looking down vs looking from the side. The light reflects right back upwards off these corals and they virtually explode with vividness.

NO

I thought you knew me well enough to know that no one would trust me hanging over the top of a tank with their camera!

I meant standing 5' away from the tank, on a chair or step-stool. I didn't say "top down shot" after all.

This is one I can't figure out. This coral is a metallic baby blue, I can't get the color to come out in a picture.

What is the opinion of using a refugium in a bare bottom tank?? I am using a CPR hang on and it creates so much crud I am wondering if it is helpful or harmful...

Baby Blue is hard to pick up. This could possibly be resolved by setting your white balance, but I've tried to shoot some acropora tables that have baby blue tips and they don't show up. In those cases, I will see if I can visually adjust the picture in photoshop to match reality.

^ If you're using a flash, that will drown away the faintness of the baby-blue. Set it up with a long exposure on a tripod and see if that helps.

Hey, Bomber, I know you've referred to your setup as a fish tank with corals for a pretty background (OK, maybe paraphrasing a bit) ... so where are the pics of the fish? And tail fins don't count

Masoch, I'm sure they are out in search patrols looking for the elusive sand bed.

For them, that would be their mirage!

I think the purpose of running BB is to get that crap out of there before it sit, rots and causes you problems.
I think the purpose of a refuge is to let it sit there, let it rot, to feed something.

Well we tried all that but didn't doctor it up in photoshop. I hate doing that.

Stupid things are swimming around! If they would hold still, I could do it better.

Here's the b'flys and a cardinal.

I know the feeling

Even ones that aren't constantly swimming, like bangaii cardinals, are always moving (their fins, their tails ...). Pictures of corals are nice, but I'm always amazed when someone snaps a great pic of fheir fish. A while back, a local reefer and camera nut got a stunning photo of a royal gramma. No idea how he did it, since mine dives into a cave the instant he sees the camera. Or, for that matter, the cat, my daughters, me, my wife ...

Beautiful butterflies, BTW. Some day, I'm going to go for the monster tank ... I'm starting to get that SPS itch ... and I'm thinking that having a bunch of flashy fish in front of them would be quite the sight ...

Damn RC and its evil users taunting me with ways to spend an awful lot of money

Bomber,
I'm considering a BB for my 375. I was going to run a 128 gal fuge with macro for nutrient exportation. Will a BB with a macro fuge work? Should everything be bare? Thanks

Great pictures, you must be so proud! Now you just need to add a condy and he can walk around and kill all of it j/k I agree with softie and sps tanks being different in the way they are run. That is why I have a nice sand bed and working on adding more fish to my 29 softies tank. My 20 in my room has a sand bed, but it mainly for show. Still going to have a lot of fish, but the skimmer is going to be BIG! (in comparison to the system).
