It is nice to see an update on this tank.
Did you ever have any problems since so many cleaning products are used in a bathroom? |

As for the cleaning products....Not that I know of. I guess I wouldn't really know if it had a negative impact either unless it went really south. But as far as I can tell , other than a misplaced rubber ducky , no bathroom related foreign objects entered the tank. Jeff Last edited by Jcohen9999; 01/28/2008 at 03:51 PM. |

I'm really glad to hear that Jeff. I guess if something had happened tue to bleach or windex, you would have told us how it affected the tank, skimmer, and livestock. That's pretty much what I meant.
Are you going to give it a good cleaning and post new pictures so we can see in it better? |

Oh! I thought you were joking around and had posted a picture from the beginning, not that you were restarting it now. Wow, you really pounced on that tank.

Man i couldnt do a tank like this cause if i did i would never leave the bathroom! Side question do you have any heat issues from the tank being in the bathroom? i take VERY hot baths and showers and my bathroom gets really hot while im in there. Just wondering? Looks AWESOME i would do a Huge overkill fuge/sump if i had the room but alas i dont so im stuck with a 55g display, 18g fuge and 14.5g sump.

Now on to more important matters: Does everyone eventually experience a decrease in flow due to build up in the pvc tubing or is just more inherent in systems with sumps that are a level below (and therefore have longer runs of PVC)? |

Yes, it will decrease as more and more stuff builds up in the plumbing. Weatherson posted pictures about a year ago showing the inside of some of his pipes and it was rather amazing.

Wow, I doubt I could find it that easily. You might either send a PM to Weatherson, or perhaps check www.weatherson.com to see if he posted them on his site. If you find 'em, post the link here for others that want to see the blockage.

Have you cleaned the SCWD lately? They can crud up real fast and really slow down flow.

I took a look down the return spout last night and noticed that the sides of the pipe are no longer the nice smooth surface we get with new PVC...now I'm no fluid dynamics engineer but I can only imagine what's going along the 15' of pvc tubing that I use. I guess I'll try swapping out the return lines this weekend and see what happens. Jeff |

Oh and I ordered a 1" SCWD...let's see if that fairs better than the 3/4" version. Last edited by Jcohen9999; 04/04/2008 at 09:46 PM. |

Nice picture. Your tank looks much bigger than it is.

I'll post a pic with clean glass later as my 'nimble' just came in the mail. It looks pretty cool. I hope it works as half as well as everyone says. |

There is still no 26 bow like your 26 bow any where else! Is that lion new? How's it doing in your reef?

Hey Bax!
I've had the lion for about 2.5 months and it seems to be fine. I know they will eat anything that they can fit into their mouth but I don't keep shrimp and everything else in my tank is too big for a meal. Once and a while it gets caught up in the flow and it looks like a sail boat fighting against the wind but for the most part it sticks to the middle front of the tank where the flow is more turbulent but not as powerful. How's your tank doing? Jeff |

My 26 bow is currently a QT, but when I redo my sump room I may plum it into the system and do something with it like a clown anem or fuzzy lion tank, I don't know yet? Since it will eventually be connected to a 550 gallon total sysetm (once my 220 is up and running) maybe I'll put a tang in it just to hear the Tang Police scream!!!
Aside from a minor Alk issue due to my CO2 bottle running dry, the current 120 main is doing just fine! Thanks

quick update
The 1" SCWD was a bust...what a POS. I ended up moving the pump for the closed-loop up to right below the tank so now I have the (almost) full flow of the 70RL working for me. It's pretty intense. I will probably order a Super Squirt or a Vortech sometime in the near future to convert from turbulence to wave motion.
