The one question I do have, do I have enough blue, should I go with lower k numbers on the whites to soften the color balance?
Cheers

Not yet no. Some come with built in controllers though.

I was able to modify one to be controlled by my Apex, but it requires special drivers, a complete driver swap, and fan modifications.

Neutral and Warm Whites added tend to look a little better than just Cool Whites, but you need a 2:1 mixture of Royal Blue with them or else they look a little yellow by themselves.

I'm still trying to hunt down the most aesthetically pleasing combo to me myself. Using all Cool Whites doesn't look as good to me.

My tanks are still dry unfortunately I am drilling tonight. If you look at my diagram you can see which dimmers they are on I have labelled the dimmers above the columns. When shining on a white cloth it does seem fairly well blended.

Hey all, I have been following this thread for quite some time and I saw this fixture another member purchased and posted a video of:

Dimmer 1: 24 Royal Blue + 4 UV
Dimmer 2: 23 White + 4 Violets

External Source:2 Nightlights

I am getting SO close to purchase I am wondering if any have opinions on this fixture in and of its own, and secondly about mixing white colors and blue colors.

So does anyone have recommendations based on this light on what type of white:white ratio and blue:blue ratio to use?

Thanks in advance!

Im kind of surprised with 8 more blue that it isnt a bit more blue in your videos. That is my biggest fear with going with a larger than 1:1 ratio with the chinese fixtures is how blue they will actually be, yours didnt look to bad. Thanks for sharing the videos.

What k values do we associate with cool white and warm white?

Thanks Bhazard, I have 30 blues and 16 whites + the colors. I am hoping it will be ok, I don't like the full on blue look, although the photos posted don't do the lights justice, comments seem very positive in general. With the electronic dimmer/timer I can use the moonlight as more blue, you have 6 steps per day you can program, I am led to believe.

I am ordering 4 lights today, I appreciate all the info presented on this thread. I had actually started a DIY fixture(had placed an order for heat sinks) when I discovered this thread and it turns out for the same money I can buy a commercial looking product, already done.

Cheers

Hey acro I have ordered 4 twilights today with the electronic timer/dimmer will let you know, maybe a little while before I get them though.
Cheers

How much did this fixture cost?

What size is the fixture? Im looking for something like this for my 29 gal frag tank. I have Mitras Led's on order for the main tank, want something similar (color spectrum) for the frag tank...

I just wanted to update now that the tank is clear to give more reference. Tried to get the white balance and colors adjusted on the camera to as close as normal vision as I could... however it still isn't quite there.

This is the standard (2) D120 with 28B/27W. Also, tank is 120g - 48x24x24.

So far I am very happy. I don't like the heavy blue tanks. I am a diver and the super blue tanks are not at all natural... that I have ever seen anyways. My only concern once I have the tank filled is the pop and coloration of REDS. However my back up plan is a DIY strip of the different LED colors which I can operate independently of the main fixtures or (2) T5's with KZ Fiji Purple + Fiji Pink... something of that nature (whatever looks best).

Either idea could work if you aren't happy. T5's would probably look best but would cost the most over time.

Yep. But went over 300. 315 delivered. Probably cheaper if no lcd built in controller. Aluminum. Kicked price up a little. 60 degree optics though.
