Alright guys im about to order 2 a4s for my 90 gallon tank! My question is do i need optics? The tank is 24 inches deep standard for a 90 gallon. I know if it was deeper i would definitely need optics but do i need optics for a 90? I am REALLY trying to avoid the spotlight effect because i hate the look. Thanks for any replys in advance!

I have a 60gal 36x24x18 and I have one D120 right now with no lenses. It is 8" above the tank with a brace in the middle. Light spread is fine and reaches where it needs to be. No shadows that I can detect or tell. Right now I have a few fish and corals and still working on the tank. Mostly mushrooms, polyps, zoas and everything has shown improvement. |

Looks like a nice setup. Since I have yet to put mine over water I can't say conclusively but I was told to run the red and green together so that they blend. This is why I arranged mine the way they are. So I would say number 1.

Schedule
Hi. First, thanks to everyone for this thread, it has a wealth of good information. After reading through a lot of this, I pulled the trigger on four of the D120-style units and am really satisfied with them. My one question is about scheduling. What is working for those who have had them up and running for a while? Do you run the blues and white on separate timers or together? Any other thoughts on configuration would be helpful, as I've only had all four up for a couple of days. (Started with one to make sure it was what I wanted, then added the final three). Thanks!

Hi guys, great thread!
I'm looking at two of these http://www.aliexpress.com/store/prod...544640134.html for my 40" long tank. Do I understand right that there is no glass to protect the leds? They will be mounted fairly low above the water, something like 11". And how silent or noisy are the fans? I want to know upfront if I need to replace them since the tanks stands in our livingroom... Thanks! |

I would go with two of these with 90 degree optics for your tank. |

Thanks, I cant believe the price on these units
![]() Easy to take a risk this way. One last question, can I get some red leds somewhere and add them? I once added a 'reddish'' (can't remember exactly what color) T5 to my Ati array and my tank totally came alive colorwise ![]() |
