the black clown is doing well, he's usually hosting the rbta...
i have been noticing awesome behavior pattern changes in my tank! i've gone through a couple royal grammas and thought the last one would make it, but it died soon after i added what i thought would be my last fish, the yellow tailed damsel. so i decided to give up on trying to keep a gramma, and got a black & white o to pair with my original orange one. at first, my orange clown didn't feel threatened in the tank and never paid attention to the rbta that i bought with one of the royal grammas, even when the damsel went in. i made sure to pick the smallest damsel so that he would be manageable for my clownfish. when i bought the b&w the scene changed a bit. at first, poor b&w was stuck in a corner being attacked from both sides, flapping around for a couple days not knowing what to do. before the end of the week, he figured out that he can hide in the anemone. ever since, he hasn't left it for more than short intervals and feeding time. i loooove watching him host in the anemone, it's adorable. a couple days ago, orange figured out how to make friends with the anemone, after repeatedly trying to bite it to close it up and get b&w out of it didn't work. now the mating games are back on, but b&w is feeling much more confident in that he was in fact, first in the anemone and he chases orange out of it. in the midst of all the fighting i see tail shakes from both sides, and it is the cutest behavior in the world. not until i saw it did i understand why everyone gets a clownfish pair. i hope they figure it out soon because sometimes i get worried :P as for the tank, it's doing fairly well, i recently bought a maxi jet 900, after my stock pump stopped being able to turn my hydor flo... couldn't be happier. the flow is amazing, i see an incredible increase in debris collection on the filter floss, i think the chaeto is growing better, all in all a great purchase. also felt like i should try the protein skimmer, since i went a little fish crazy and have a pretty decent bioload now. so i bought the biocube one despite all the hate, so far it's been pulling liiiight yellow water out, but i think i'm just not done calibrating it, i'll update more when i know. i've been able to keep my nitrates under 10 with weekly water changes but i'm hoping all these recent improvements will help them go down even more. on my purchase list is a salifert nitrate kit... coralline is growing, brown and yellow gorgonians are growing, purple gorgonian and sponges are still slowly dying even though i keep trying to feed them back to life (just too small of a tank for these/ maybe too high nitrates), still have at least 8+ porcelain crabs and 8+ hermit crabs, down to 1 urchin(3 were eating too much), peppermint shrimp, serpent star, yellow sea star, anemones seem to be eating well and appear healthy, though my rbta lost all its bubbles (research consensus is that it's because of clown hosting/lighting), chaeto is growing and has some crazy creepy looking little bugs all over the mini fuge. i guess that's how i know it works :P i see my clowns fish for pods from the hydor flo all the time fts coming soon, gotta get the boy with the camera over here again!

I had the Bio Cube in my 24, packed it up and bought the Tunze 9002. I see a lot more gunk with the Tunze.
