What about these Anthias (Fathead/ Sunburst Anthias)
A LFS just got them in. I'm new to Athias, but there are certainly different. On the bigger side too. Look plump to me. |

I have a sunburst anthias Wally, very cool, unfortunately I've been told they are a 1 fish per system Anthias, and they supposedly don't get along with any other antias either.
If you get a trio of them and introduce them all at once they MIGHT get along. They can be tricky to get to eat at first, so make sure you have a huge variety to offer them. Once you get them eating they're usually pretty stable. They get large in all directions lol. |

One of my all time favorite anthias.
A trio might get along or once they mature, one male will kill the other (assuming you get 2 males and a female) I really don’t know enough about them.. Finicky at first but once established tough and hearty I think. Wally, let’s talk ballasts..

OLD 65G Out of WAY (STARTING Rebuild of [Enviromental Area] ) Better than last time with Extra Sump Room Space.
Really glad to have the OLD tank out. I couldn't access any of this area behind it. The extra Space in Sump Room (Hard to belive with bigger tank), means the ATO Reservoir fit in there. Plus room for some wall hanging stuff, and possibly a small shelf. Working to Restore things as below: The Battery UPS will be done more effectively this time. -> Keep Household Internet (Up and Stable) -> Dual Power Bus on Aquariums (WIll allow me to smart Power Control things by APex) During any Power Failures [More on this later] -> The rest is self explanatory. |

Why not get a male and female and keep both. I guess hard to tell male from Female....Is that is? |

I think it’s pretty tough to sex them when they are small.. or at any size..
It’s a bit of luck.. maybe get one big one and one small one.. Or just one. They aren’t cheap, I don’t think..

Link: Sequential hermaphroditism Also, you're right Matt, they aren't cheap. Locally I have a guy that makes his cash being the shop that sells like 10% above wholesale, so I can find them for 30-35 each.. Most people pay 65-90 Quote:

Good to know.

Maybe just one, since I like variety. Can't see me having too much success with more Anthias since already lost 3. |

Copperband Butterfly Eating like Crazy [In QT(#2) ] LAST Day before next/Last Transfer
He wasn't eating in QT #2. Even with the new Acro Skelton. Just passing by again, noticed him hunting. Waited a bit with Camera Running, and he started eating one after another. Watch him eat like crazy on this video. https://youtu.be/ptO0TGqVqcE He got Close to the Rakie Tree of life, but kept going So I know the recipe for him. -> Threw in a fresh batch of Live Baby Brine Shrimps hatched from eggs (aged them just over a day) -> Threw in some Live Tigger Pods from Copepod Farm -> A squirt of Reef Nutrition Phytofeast to keep Pods/Shrimp Well fed. SO THIS CREATES me a CHOICE (Kitchen tank, or New 110G Tank after next Transfer Tank) I could put him in my new 110G tank (which I would love to have him in my office view). Mandarin lives there and he's been eating pods for over a year. So Copperband could also survive there. (But would be Competition for Food) Tradeoff is no Aptasia Eatter for Fish tank. Getting some peppermints (JUMBO size) for Kitchen tank. Copperband going to Kitchen tank could possibly get ICH again and after so much effort, I would hate to lose him. I am leaning toward new Tank. And get rid of the Super Fat, and kind of mean Spot Breast Angel that keep my Firefly Goby in Prison. |

No more kitchen tank... it potentially has ich; would suck if you went through all of this ttm trouble only to reintroduce him to tank with ich Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

At least I want to finish the PolypLab Medic Treatement in Kitchen tank. 6 more days to go. I can keep Copperband in the two 10 Gal QT tanks (for a while and do a few more transfers, NO HARM). 10 GAL tank is cozy and easy to populate live food in smaller quantities. He will continue to eat, and not be harassed. I can actually move him into the Frag Tank QT with the BlackCap and Wrasse to keep things contained. And one less QT to manage. In the meantime I can work on NEW TANK Rockscape, and put all new fish in at once (possibly removing the Large Spotbreast Angel which is KING OF TANK). Would be nice to setup new tank with all peaceful community. |

Copperband (Tank Transfer #3 Complete: VOLCANIC Setup). No more Sterile Heater (Raffle PRIZE Kettle to the Rescue)
So I did the Last Tank Transfer. Ran out of ornaments since I can't use the Plants and stuff from Contaminated TTM #2. The Volcano from my Son's old Neon Tank works. Copperband hangs around behind it. No BioFilter, so just a air Bubble line. I seeded the Transfer Tank again with Tigger Pods and some Phyto. BUT I RAN INTO A PROBLEM (NO more Clean Sterile HEATERS till old one dries for 48 hours) FOUND a Solution to bring New Salt Water mix up to temp. We won this Kettle at a Raffle. Really awful [never used] since the you can't even pour a cup of water out of it without half going on Counter. I used it to speed up the Water Making (since my tiny heater was taking ages)....Maybe can use it for future Sterilization. Kettle is awful, but BLUE LED GLOW is nice. Put water making heater into TTM#3 for now, till old heater is sterile. So 72 more hours, and Copperband is hopefully ICH Cured. I can start some standard Worm, etc Meds, and plan for next transfer to a DT |

LOL, that's interesting Wally!
Although you could dry your heaters with rubbing alcohol. It will ensure everything is sterile and dry in like 20 minutes or less due to evaporative nature |

Are you sure. Everything I read point to 3-4 Transfers (3 day/72 hours each). Then back to DT.
Maybe you mean Fallow Period to Rid a whole tank of any ich, like I need to do for my Kitchen Tank if (Polyp Lab Medic) doesn't work. I have a Plan for the Copperband. I put in a rock from my Refuge Area of my Sump (For the new 110G Tank). He took to it right away. When I'm ready, and other 2 fish (Black Cap, Tri Color Wrasse) are done QT/Hospital Treatment. 2-3 weeks from now. I will move (All 3 NEW fish) into the Refuge Section of SUMP. It's only 5 Gallons, but it's tall, and lots of life. Sand bed too fro Wrasse. They will get good filtered water from the 150 Gallon system. The 3 new fish will get to know each other. Copperband will get plenty of live food and lean to eat. It will free up the QT Frag Tank which is working really great for Filtration. And that is where I'll put in the New Sunburs Anthias. Then when all 4 New FISH ready. They go into 110 DT with new Rock Scape. It will be enough FISH for short term, to start Corals. |

Starting (Pre-DT QT-Transfer Treatment) NEW FISH
My online Order came in. Starting some basic Conditioning Treatments for the two QT Tanks. (Tri Color Wrasse, BlackCap // Copperband ) -> API (General Cure) if for Parasites (Powder 1/2 Packet for 10 Gallon) -> Prazi Pro (Same as API) but drop for larger Frag Tank QT Fish Both for next 10 days. Approx 2 weeks. -> Got some Masstick food, and will use ------> The Kent Zoe (Vitamins soak) ------> Same for Garlic Guard Food Flavour Enhancer(to get Copperband possibly eating non-Live Food) |

Be careful with wrasse and Prazi Pro, it's slightly contested but there's a handful of people who will tell you it killed their wrasse and a handful who say it's just fine.
It killed my wrasse, and my friends wrasses. Dose light with wrasses and Prazi, and don't mix any meds with it unless you are POSITIVE there will be NO interaction (Prime is deadly when mixed with Prazi for example) |

Also api general cure has less concentrated amount of Praziquantel which is found in PraziPro; use one of the other but not both. I’ve used api general cure successfully on several delicate wrasses as per the recommended dosing amounts (1 sachet per 10 gal) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
