How about a red mandarin dragonlet?
yeah your temp is little low. also the tank hasn't been running long enough for good pod population and isn't big enough for a sustainable population

Hmmm, liveaquaria says temp should be 72 - 78 F for this fish...also says 30 gal tank size. lots of copepods on glass...

As much as I like LA, I am going to disagree with both of those statements -- reef tanks should be b/t 76-83 (( with a few exceptions for some fish, but if you are going to going to be keeping them, you should be aware of their requirements )). Those pods will be eaten within a week; I would say that a 58 gallon would be the very smallest tank for that fish.

What would you suggest to get started with fish and inverts maybe? Zoa's maybe?

Would get your SG up to 1.026, and the temp up to 78 +/-

What lights do you have?

Some "cheap" zoas might not be a bad idea

The other ones would be nice -- want to make sure before excluding any fish

In general I would say that there wouldn't be an issue; though algae blennies can be a bit aggressive towards new comers, but just for a day or two, after that they are fine. So just keep that in mind, and make sure your tank is covered.
Thanks, it's a Solana 15x20x20 display. Covered, check.

That tank is on the smaller size -- should make sure that the blenny is eating prepared foods, not all of them do -- so you might have an issue for the first couple of weeks, but after that shouldn't be any real issues.

Well, if the firefish is initially harassed, it may not ever adjust; they are very sensitive. Also, I keep all of my tanks at 76/77 F.

snails and hermits(need to add more)
3 varied shrooms

So with my setup as it is now, I would like to add a few more things and of course more corals and more cuc.

Fish wish list:
Mandarin (I know not for a while and not until I can get a sump goin)
Zebra barred Dartfish
Scopas tang
Powder brown tang
yellow tang
Firefish
Convict tang
Yellow banded possum Wrasse
Cardinals

Of course I cant add all of these on the list but would like your input on them and what might go good in my tank. Thanks for any and all input. I also plan to get a bigger tank in the near future but I want to set that up as a predator tank and I am sure will have questions for that as well.

Honestly, I would leave out all the tangs -- but if you really want one, I would have to suggest the scopas, from your list. Otherwise, the rest doesn't appear to be an issue -- though the wrasse is a jumper, so make sure you take that into account.

Thanks for you input. I like the scopas just fine and would be happy with that. I would really like the powder brown tang. What are your thoughts as to why or why not on that one?

Just way too much of a swimmer for that sized tank, and will become more aggressive the older it gets -- because of the lack of swimming room. They can/will get really mean.

Ok, I want happy fish so I will refrain myself.

What are your thoughts on my lighting? Are T12's way out dated? Seems like everyone is using the T5's. Benefits? Other than just bein compact.

Any suggestions on good corals?
I was also thinkin of a blue tuxedo pincushion urchin. Thoughts?

What I have: 36 gallon bow-front, Eheim canister filter, AquaC Remora, two Koralia Nano 425 powerheads, ~34lbs live rock (cured Fiji), 40lbs Arag-Alive Indo-Pacific Black (appx 2" deep). Been running a month. Water is from the LFS. Never had an ammonia/nitrite spike, water parameters have been stable all along.

The light is a 24" Marineland "Reef-Capable LED" fixture. (Yeah, I know, there's a sucker born every minute. It lights the tank nicely, and if I stick with "easy" corals...)

I'm starting to think I need an HOB refugium?

What it's like in there:
Temp 76F
Salinity 1.026
pH 8.2
Ammonia undetectable
Nitrite undetectable
Nitrate 40ppm (up in the last few days since adding livestock)
Phosphate undetectable

Who lives here so far:
some hermit crabs, added about 2 weeks ago
some Astraea snails, added this weekend
three blue-green chromis, added this weekend
a green button polyp, added this weekend

Okay, so - after adding livestock this weekend, I'll wait 10 days or two weeks to make sure everything stays stable.

I'm sure I'll be joining the coral of the week club soon...

As far as fish: I'm thinking next might be a shrimp/gobie pair.

I saw a blue-sided fairy wrasse at the LFS - love the colors, but haven't researched it much yet. I understand wrasses like to burrow - is 2" of Indo-Pacific Black going to be suitable?

I'm not sure I want clown fish - too predictable - but my granddaughters may insist I get them a "Nemo".

What other livestock might be suitable, given my goals & the environment I've built?

TIA,
Mike
Since that post, I added the HOB fuge and some livestock. I'm up to 5 soft & 2 LPS corals, and have added a conch snail, a six-line wrasse and a Steinitz Goby / Red Banded Snapping Shrimp pair.

The goby & shrimp were added Saturday, and found each other today. They've set up their burrow front and center in the tank. How cool is that?

Mike

I could use some suggestions on fish for my 100 gallon 60x18x20 to run past the wife. She likes anthias and black clowns so those are a possibility to add to the list. For some unknown reason she loves "dora" and was wondering if it's possible to keep one till about 4 inches or so and then trade out for a smaller one or something different. I was thinking about adding a scopas or chevron or yellow tang myself.

I'd like to do a mixed reef down the road as my budget is kind of tight for lighting and or if need be a chiller right now so that's also some pertinent information. Any suggestions/ concerns are welcome. Thanks in advance!

Current stock list:

Firefish
Coral beauty angel

If your wife likes anthias, a group of 5-8 resplendant anthias would work well. I do not support adding a Hepatus Tang to that sized tank even for a short period of time. Always buy fish for the tank you have.

I'll run the resplendants by her, although it'll probably be more like 3. Are there any wrasses I should steer clear of (aside from the non reef safe ones obviously)? I'll tell her she's going to have to hold off on the hepatus until I get to upgrade in the future.

IF and ONLY IF you have a covered tank with mesh (not egg crate) with 1/4 inch holes, I would recommend flasher wrasses. Fairy wrasses are good as long as you avoid the super aggressive ones.

So for a niger trigger LA is saying you only need a 70 gallon tank... Does that seem a bit small to anyone else for a fish that they say reaches 1' in length? Also i'm guessing this would be out of my league for my tank size?
