I have opened a dispute so we'll see where this goes. I sent Lyn a grid pattern dimmer design to see if they have a PCB to match. That should eliminate the problem we are having. I was hoping that I could modify the existing light into a grid pattern, but the PCB does not allow it. I have been looking at other options and found a Houyi that had a controller built in. I'll keep looking and post what I find to get feedback.

I was really close to buying one of these, all I needed to do was pay but because I couldn't pay by paypal or credit card I ended up cancelling.

Bhazard - with the twilight unit you have are you sure you can use the same pcb board for crees? when I asked about getting crees instead of the epistar LEDs Simon said they would need to make a new pcb board and it would be more expensive so wouldn't recommend it.

Lyn told me $150USD extra to go with Crees to cover cost of new PCB along with $0.96USD extra per LED.

They look like they are to thin. Only 8" wide. Id be surprised if that could handle a 24"
Deep tank let alone a 36".

No. I would do what I did with my Nova. I would ditch the entire pcb board completely and wire up crees on stars. They can be attached with thermal adhesive to the heatsink.

Since the drivers are only running at 630mah, it would be a bit of a waste to use crees though. I just ordered 20 Bridgelux CW and WW leds and I'll add them in.

I'm not too sure about those. That's a lot of red in there.

You would need to find out the exact leds they are using. Are the middle Epistar 10w leds? Cree on the outside? Lots of details missing, but it does look cool. Might be pricey too. Ask for a quote.

I was wondering what you guys would recommend to light a 40 gallon breeder? I plan on keeping mostly SPS and LPS.

I sent them an email and will post their response.

Those lights Lott posted about are sweet, but like hazard said a lot of red and can the ratio be adjusted to what you want, and of course price could be the killer

When you were playing around inside the Twilight fixture did you notice if the Led drivers would be controllable by an external contoller, ie 0-10v, PWM
Cheers

Their controller works really well though.

Bhazard, if Twilight had a PCB setup like this we would not have the problem we have now correct? I would think that it would be very easy for them to setup as it matches what others have done. As well as telling them how we want the colors placed. Hope to hear from Lyn soon so I can find out what my options are.

I have 4 lights coming, if I cant get them to sync properly it gives me an option later on. Via an Apex, Profilux etc
Cheers

Hmm. So people are happy with evergow. I think i'm going to try to get them to
add a controller or external dimmer interface to their products. They use pots
To dim the lights. Can anyone measure the voltage range/amp or watts?
Maybe and easy mod to the dimming circuit could be made so it could be
Controlled by an external reef controller?

I think I'm going to order an a4 or d120 to play with. There has to be a way to mod it

Mike

Evergrow is actually making a new light with a built in controller. They are going to let me know when it is released.

I already modded the Nova A4 to allow Reef Controller dimming and posted instructions on how to do it way back in the thread. You basically need to get two 0-10v dimmable (or pwm if your controller uses that) 60 watt, 90 volt drivers running at 630 mah, and re-wire the fans to their own outlet.

I went really nuts and made my Nova into a 180w DIY Cree XT-E light, but that's a much more involved mod.
