I know another local who has been running the Kamoer for years and has switched to the versa... once I got the new fittings in mine, it’s been working flawlessly |

Can someone please help me identify what this debris is thats in my sump and overflow? I'm wondering if its related to my calcium reactor setup. Nowhere to be seen in the display.

That looks like a lot of spirorbid worms which are harmless filter feeders.

I've got a CarbonDoser. The Co2 tank gauge is reading under 200 psi. As I recall the gauges can get wonky towards the end of the bottle, is that right? Should I go ahead and refill the tank now? Also do I need to remove the entire carbon doser assembly when I take the tank in to get refilled?

I have gone down to 100P SI but not lower.
Yes, Remove the entire unit from the tank. If you are NOT using their rubber fitting from tank to doser get a new washer.

Not to worry on the flow, that's the recirculating pump, it runs @ a fixed speed.
The drip rate coming out is the important one & holds steady with a doser pump rated for continuous duty like the Versa or Kamoer.

Anybody have repeated eeprom failure code issues on the newer brushless models? I'm trying to help out someone that has had 2 go down in a matter of a month.

Well it sure seemed like the Versa was going to be able to solve my calcium reactor effluent woes. Unfortunately they are impossible to get and I'm tired of waiting and fussing with needle valves. The common alternative, the Kamoer FX STP doesn't have a high enough flow for my effluent. Are there any other decent options.. looks like a Masterflex on ebay is in the neighborhood of $500-600. I'll pay it if I have to, just wanted to get a feel if there are other reasonable options for variable flow in the 100-200 mL/min range.

Where do people find their tubing for masterflex heads? Do you need to get a 25/50 ft roll from masterflex or are there alternatives?

I feel like I'm having some kind of issue with my Calcium reactor setup. I've got a Masterflex with an MTC Minical and a Carbondoser. I've got the Apex keeping the pH at around 6.5. I've got a heavily stocked SPS tank that is healthy and growing but Alk is stuck at 5.5-5.8. I can't get it to go up. I've got the flow rate on the Masterflex set to 200 but it seems like no matter what I set it to, the Alk won't rise.
The other thing is, I don't see the actual media burning up at a fast rate? I'm reading accounts of people adding in more media every couple of weeks but I'm not doing that, even though I have the pH set to 6.5. What should I be looking at? |

1. How are you testing alk? 2. What media are you using? 3. Are you SURE you've properly calibrated the pH probe? 4. Have you measured CA and MG and, if so, what are those at? 5. Specific gravity of the tank? Salt used?

An additional question... Have you measured your effluent dKH?

1) Salifert and Trident. Both report low alk readings. Salifert is reading at about 5.6. For the Trident, its so low I'm getting a "Bad Alk Range" error which means it thinks it is under 5.0.
2) Two Little Fishies Reborn 3) Yes I've calibrated the cX reactor probe multiple times with 4.0 and 7.0 4) Calcium is coming up at 463 and magnesium at 1361. This is per Trident. Salifert numbers aren't far off for these two. 5) 1.025 - 1.026, using Instant Ocean 6) No I actually haven't measured the dKH of the effluent but I suppose that is a good idea I'm trying to figure out if something is wrong with my caclium reactor setup, or if I need to supplement with 2 part or kalk or something. |
