The most common yes, the most feared…no. AEFW are the worst to try and get rid of.

the temp drop seems like the a good treatment and fast to if its only 24hrs. but will i loss anything because of the temp drop has anyone had any issues with coral loss?

I'd argue the opposite actually. Do you have info that shows they only live five days with no host? I'm curious where you got it from. I've never heard the life cycle of a RB.

Where did you see this? I missed it on this thread. And what temp are you dropping to? This is another first for me. Never heard of temp drops to fight pests....

I remeber reading somewhere , I believe Eric boreman stating that the redbugs could only survive 5 days without a host and since they are live bearers eggs wouldn't be an issue. I left my sump disconnected for 8 days and after the second treatment I do not see any bugs. Even though I did kill the cleaner shrimp, a porcelain crab and a strawberry crab with the second treatment, with the same size dose. All corals seem very healthy.

I would love some opinion on this concern that i have for a while.

For my new tank setup, i will have a coral QT due to those horrible stories i had seen on RC.

However, can i place corals other then zoa, monti and acro into the display tank? Subsequent batches of corals will undergo a quarantine period of minimum 3 months.

am i right to say that due to the absent of food (aka the 3 aforementioned coral species), those dreadful pest will not be able to survive and reproduce?

is there any other corals killing bugs that i need to be aware of?

Just used Milbemax for cats, worked like a charm, without as much as prazi or other ingredients. Ordered from our friends across the pond, no script needed. Total for 18 caplets was just over 18 bucks shipped.


a 24mg dose would be 60mg of prazi far less then the others


Milbemax tablets for cats (2-8kg):
16mg milbemycin oxime (dose range 2-4mg/kg)
40mg praziquantel (dose range 5-10mg/kg)

Sentinel Spectrum Blue for Dogs 50.1-100 lbs:

Active Ingredient (per chewable tablet) Amount
Milbemycin Oxime 23 mg
Lufenuron 460 mg
Praziquantel 228 mg


Interceptor Spectrum Tasty Chews containing 23mg milbemycin oxime and 228mg praziquantel in blue pack.

All of your inverts will die eventually with the treatment of interceptor or sentinel. Basically anything with a chitinous exoskeleton is doomed. Totally worth it as redbugs will destroy acros. The only thing you can do to save then is remove them and put them in a QT for a month or so before and after dosing.

FWIW Pfizer (the maker of Sentinel and who used to make interceptor) got bought out by Elanco this year and that will take effect at the end of the year. No idea if they will keep Sentinel. Just a heads up, might want to buy a 6 pack or two in case that happens.

i've only seen a couple notes in the thread about Sea Spiders.
the guys i have are quite tiny, but fairly certain to be spiders of some sort.
this is an all Acro QT Frag Tank.

Any recent experience with them and erradicating them?

I have been through a few bayer dips and CoralRx dips, will do again; but would like to know of others' recent experience & success in removing them with dip or biological.

Now what about peroxide. I know you can't treat the whole tank, but using as a dip just like when cleaning off zoas. Not sure how it works on red bugs tho

How can I sterilize new LPS or SPS before adding in tank in order to prevent entering Hitchhikers or any other harmful pet in aquarium .any Idea ? Is there any med product among brands?

Hard to say but they resemble copepods. I would guess they are eating the dead tissues.
