I just got my Spectra fixture today. I'm impressed! I am curious about the plug though. I have to join it to my ballast. Any suggestions?

Bought the Aurora from Reef Eden a while ago. It's running nicely now. Just not sure if I'm running the right program with the default one. I want to try different profiles but can't get the software to work under Windows 8 somehow and the android app can't import profiles

This was after running 1 day so Corals doesn't look the best and it's my first tank ever so I have just a few Corals with some almost dead because of several issues I had. But now it's pretty well running

I am looking to upgrade the t5 ballasts in my giesmann spectra. The Phillips advance ballasts in there don't drive the t5s as bright as some of the HO fixtures that I've seen. Has anyone here done this? Any suggestions?

I believe that they sold me a spec ballast so it was not over driven. Unless you want to replace your bulbs every 6 months or less, unfortunately I am still waiting for my remodel of my sons room before I can set it up. What size is your light?

Not a great design compared to other fixtures I have disassembled. Most other fixtures simply allow for the reflector to lift right straight out.

Any ways here's my attempt at showing what I did for any that are curious . .

Step one open 'er up.

Step two remove perfect German wire ties

Step three switch one yellow port wire from side to side using wire extensions

Step four cut the end cap short connections and put on wire unions

Step five add wire extensions and reconnect shortends inner to inner and outer to outer.

Step six switch sides with the blue wires one at a time using extensions

Step seven tie it all back up

Step eight put it back together!

Here's a good post on the subject.

Power consumption of T5s?

I'm trying to figure out the load that's on my breaker. Does anyone have info of the power consumption that the 4 54w T5s draw? My fixture is the Spectra 48". I'm uncertain to what ballast runs the T5s. I don't want to disassemble the light to view the ballast's specs.

I'm so sad I want s Giesemann spectra so bad but my tank is 65" x30" x24" and Giesemann only makes a 24", 48", and a 72". Do you guys think giesman will make a custom fixture if I needed one? I would probably want it to run 3x250watts and 4x80 watt t5s but be 60" in length is this possible? Because I don't think the 48" fixture will cut it

Years ago I was told they could make a custom light. But not sure now.

I have just been offered an awesome deal on a 48" 2x400 watt spectra. I need to know if this will work for my 65x30 sps tank. Or if I need to retrofit it. I need to know asap because the guy is waiting for me to pay. Does anyone know if this is an issue or nort. I don't think it really will be but I have to be sure. I know that a 48" fixture will work on a 60" tank and my tank is only 2.5 inches longer on each side

Tell me WHHHHHY

I'm so worried about coverage and growth issues. I would almost rather buy a 60" 3x250 watt cebu sun.

Because the Spectra is a beautiful fixture it will complement your tank, it will look similar as your ol ATI fixture, but with dual 400 watt Radium's the Cebu will look bulky on your rimless tank. People use 36 inch fixtures on 48 inch tanks all the time, that's a 12'' difference yours will be 17 basically 8'' off each end.

Isn't that difference a lot? I'm afraid I won't have enough coverage. If I have to grab a cebu and it'll give it full coverage. Wouldn't it be better? I'm worried that I'll have to raise the fixture really high

I would be very comfortable placing corals 6 inches off either end of my Spectra. My tank is 48 inches so I can't actually do that, but I think a poci or a Bali Green Slimer would grow fine there, and if it was a 400 watt Spectra and not a 250 like I have then I would be certain it could cover 60 inches long. 65 might be a push.
