No spoiler. I ordered the photon but as long as it was taking, I was not sure it was ever going to get here. I even considered another light, but I had done this before and that is how I came up with the photon. So I just waited.

And sexy does not grow corals, but I am going to be patient. I know things will come around the way I want eventually.

Reza,
Thanks for the compliment.

I will try and get up some pictures when work calms down. My tank looks better now and has colored up.

how is your achillies doing? I have a 36x24x24 and was thinking I could find a juvenile that I could keep for a while...does he seem stressed in your tank at all?

tigerarmy40,

He is doing fine. He always looks bigger in the pictures than he really is. He was bought as a small from a store in a neighboring city. They had him for a month before I bought him. I tried to open up the rock work to give him as much swimming space as possible. I also have alot of flow and I think that helps. I run two tunze 6100's wide open and a nanowavebox.

The other thing that helped is he eats flake food. I never thought I would see it. But he prefers it to anything else. He is especially fond of Omega one flake food with garlic. Plus I feel the garlic helps keep him healthy. Now if all Achilles were this easy.

I am also going to try and get rid of some of my lps and zoos to free up some space on the floor. I think this would help with flow. Plus I can then get a clam possibly.

I dont know about you but with that setup it would look better with 2 arms hanging that fixture. I really like the light and the tank but the stand throws the look off. This is my opinion only just thought i would put my 2 cents in. It is still a really nice setup.
if you want to go with the modern look go modern all the way

I would hang with two arms but the external overflow makes that impossible. I would like to hang the light from the ceiling, but haven't gotten around to that yet. The arm is a compromise.

I think the stand is the best part of the setup. Everyone comments on the stand that sees the setup.

I will try and get one up. Some of my coral colors are not where I want them as my tank has been a little neglected due to work. Plus I am making adjustments in my ultralith dosing.

Pictures

Here are some random pictures from the tank. Excuse my poor camera skills. Again some of my colors are off due to some negelect and changes being made in my ultralith system. My growth has been good though. I am probably going to make some aquascaping changes soon.

New light suspension

I had some free time and decided I wanted to update how my light was supsended. I took down my Zero Edge lamp tree and went with some hangers I made. I think it looks better and the light looks more centered and level. Let me know what you think.

To me, looks-wise, it's probably a wash. Didn't think that the lamp tree looked that bad to start off with but the two supports don't look bad either. But if you feel that the centering and leveling of the light is better, then that's really what matters. What'd you use, metal conduit pipe and painted it black?

I was thinking of ordering one of those zero edge lamp trees.
I'm trying to go as minimalist as possible. I know you said you had some
problems with it but overall is it usable?

Spleen 93,
The light is centered better and more level with the new set up. I made the hangers out of 3/4 inch conduit. I probably could have gone with 1/2 inch but I liked the idea of overbuilt. I used industrial black spray paint on it.

Crypsis,
Overall the hanger is useable. I just had problems with getting my light level and centered.

With the new setup, can you move the light up and down to different heights? (for working on the tank or for light acclimation, etc. etc.) I've been considering doing something like this for one of my tanks and I've been trying to figure out a way to do it with parts from HD without buying a hanging kit.

Spleen,
I can move the light to different heights. It is very easy to do now. I am using a light hanging kit that came with my light to attach light to the hanger I made. This hanging kit makes moving the light easy. I think you can buy these kit pretty easily. I think Premium Aquatics has one I think.

If you want a part list for what I did let me know. I will be glad to let you know what I used and how I went about it.
