I had to get creative. My canopy wasnt tall enough to use the supplied hanging kit (at least not as is) so I had to modify it, otherwise my fixtures would have been about 3" over the water. The first thing I did was measure out exactly where I wanted the fixtures to be located underneath the canopy. Next I used a 2 1/2" hole saw to cut out vents in the top located directly over where the fixtures fans would be. Then I drilled out four small holes (2 for each end of the fixture) the exact distance (left to right) of the holes in the fixtures heat sink (the ones that are for using the hanging kit). Front to back the holes are about 3 inches apart. Next I cut a straight length of the hanging kit cable. I started by mounting the left side of the fixture........I ran the piece of cable through one of the small holes I had drilled in the top of the canopy. Next I fished it through a hole in the fixtures heat sink. Then I ran the cable under the left side of the fixture and fished it up through the other hole in the heat sink. Finally I fished the cable up through the other small hole I had drilled in the canopy top and clamped the two ends together with the clamp that comes with the hanging kit. ( The piece Im calling a clamp is the small silver piece with a screw in it that is connecting the cable at the top of the hanging kit). I repeated the procedure for the right side of the fixture and leveled it out. For added support (Just in case) I ran a second cable around each side, of picture hanger wire and twisted it together. Since I had two fixtures to mount, it was a little work getting both fixtures even, but Im satisfied with the end result. The only drawback is that there are four places in my canopy top where the cable and wire could be seen, but my aquarium stand is 40" tall and even with me being 6'2", I cant see the top of the canopy without getting on a step stool. Either way, the wire lays relatively flat, so it wouldnt look bad or rigged up even if you could see it.

As far as canopy mounting......it would be nice.....and simple if Maxspect would either include, make it an option, or directly sell you a piece of hardware like their ball joint, but with a flat end that could be directly screwed or bolted into a canopy top. Essentially, a mounting brackett that slides into the top of the fixture and then is simply screwed or bolted into the canopy. No rails or extra expenses needed. As it stands, unless you have a very tall canopy there is no way to mount these fixtures...........without getting creative! lol

Hi, now that your corals are acclimated.
What is your time points for chanel A and B.

I have SPS only in my 90 gallons tank and i put my 2 Razor 120W, 7 inch over it.
I have acclimated my corals for 3 weeks and i have at maximum my chanel A at 75% and chanel B at 100% for 6h.

I would really like to see this without the Kessi think that's possible?

Wow. This light is very tempting.

But it only has Blue and White LED's right?

If so I will wait until they upgrade it and add more colors.

Does it come with a Remote to adjust the Colors?

Here are some before and after t5 to led over 2 months time. Growth has gone pretty wild, and I want to appologize on the picture quality (LED is hard to capture accordingly especially with IPHONE lol). If you look past the quality, try and focus on details of the corals growth/ saturation, it shows the overall balance of the light. I have this light mounted not in the center of the tank, but towards the right side for more coverage due to the overflow and closet space. I grew very impatient during the acclimation process and started second guessing the fixture. I stuck it out and now this light has been an amazement. I love the fact that the fish do not get light struck. I get tremendous growth, coloration, and a beautiful light cycle rendered to my personal taste and an ecosystem's needs.

before t5:
[/IMG]

After LED: When my friends come over with their super cameras. Ill have them perfect the natural beauty of the LED, but for now Iphone

It does have the purple and the blues that other high end units do not have which is critical for the survival of the corals. My reds and greens look correct under this light, and very vibrant at that.
Controls are not remote but very functional.

Depends on how much rock you will end up spreading over the 30" depth. If you almost fill it you will need two lights. Good luck!

I like going with 100 % for both for five hours. Like the colour and the fact that corals are getting max par. And they love it!

Questions:

1. For a 72"Lx30"dx26"h that has 2 braces dividing the tank into 3 section that are 24" wide by 30" deep, I believe I would need 3 of these and I could run them either the long direction or the deep direction. Would I need 3 120's or 3 160's?
2. If the power goes off and comes back on, do these automatically come back on and does all of your saved settings stay or do you have to reprogram?
3. Can you run these without a glass cover sitting on on the tank frame using their built in stands or can the humidiy damage them?
4. Are they coming out with a new model and if so when?
5. Is there a 10% off coupon for these?
6. What is the difference between 16k and 10k and which is better and why?

thanks for any answers you provide.

(5) Keep an eye out for 10% coupon code. I guarantee some of the RC sponsors will have one after Thanksgiving. I bought 2 27" 16k fixtures with one from Marine Depot as part of sitewide Labor Day sale. As a matter fact, there may be some discount codes coming out for a Veterans Day sale from some businesses. (6) As far as 16k vs 10k.........according to CoralVue, the par is about even. It comes down to personal color appeal. Most people in the US are going for the 16k due to the way we like our tanks to loook. The 16k was my choice as I really like the 14k look, which is easily accomplished this fixture. (4) This model "is the new model" so there wont be another anytime soon. (3) I doubt anyone is running them with a glass cover on the tank. As for humidity, shouldnt be an issue in an open top or vented canopy set up. (2) Yes (1) With your width, Im honestly not sure. Better to let some one with a wider tank answer that one for you.

I am still deciding what to get. These would cost around $1500 for 3. Apollo's which can be controlled by Apex would be $1200 but are only 120w units, and of course the Chinese LED's are about 60-50% less depending on what you get but then again I think you get what you pay for and may not last.

I wish these had a 3 year warranty like their pumps do instead of only 1 year. The Chinese lights offer 3 years, even though I don't know how good the warranty really is...we will see.

More like $1350 for the 3 27" units if you wait for coupon code, and $1080 for 3 20" units. I agree about the warranty of chinese units. There are however some US distributors of those that would probably be more trustworthy, if you had warranty issues.

Yes the discount makes them a better choice then the Apollo. For $150 more you get much more powerful lights.

16k vs 10k lights...which is better for coral growth and color?

Do these only have 1 cord per unit?

Also, maybe I could get 3 of the 120w units, and run them perpindicular to the tank. Will I get coverage with a 72" long x 30" deep and 26" high tank?

Or would it be better (or overkill) with the 160w unit.

On certain holidays online stores give 10% off. On Halloween I got 10% off at a couple of stores. The best thing to do is set up accounts for email alerts with online stores that carry them. Then when they have the sale you will get the discount.

I 27" would make the ends dark unless you hung it really high, but then of course you loose par. IMO, 2 120s would be much better.

I may be wrong but, I believe 10k provides a little more growth, 16k provides more pop!

Just an update folks. Notice the white tips on this palmers. Looks like I have a crab to hunt down!!
Some top down shots. Growth slowed down due to no water change for over a month.

Colors seem to be holding up and getting better!
I have a tough time focusing. Not sure why.

This one just completely browned out. It could be the quality of the coral. This happened as well when I had my T5 and Halides.
