I guess this unit is too small for a neck cleaner huh? Prob better that way
I will have to remember to take a picture of my "low tech" neck cleaner.

I appreciate the encouragement. I am going to school full-time. I work at a hospital full-time, and take call. Ohhh and I am married. between all that I try to find some time to enjoy some time with friends (that includes RC friends)

Thanks for reading through everything. I wanted to be a bit more organized about my posting, but life gets in the way. Hope you have found something useful.

OT: So I wen diving instead of updating RC.....

Diving in West Palm FL 5/17/13. Notice the white "snow looking" stuff all around. Our first dive landed us right in the middle of a sponge orgy. That is to say the sponges where spawning! Kinda cool....

Chiller and QT tank:

The chiller is Pacific Coast 1/2 HP C-0500 Chiller. I purchased this from a fellow RC member, and it work well. I have this place in a garage in Florida, where the temperature are regularly in to high 90's. Thats to says this chiller has its work cut out for it. I set the temperature to 77, and that seems to keep the water temperature around 79-80. I am a bit worried about how much it runs. every time I am out there its seems to be on. In regards to its plumbing, this is the only accessory one the primary pump.

I was thinking on how to plumb this to maximize the distance between the intake and output from the chiller. I wanted to avoid running another pipe through the wall, and honestly it would have been a lot of trouble to plumb this way. Therefore I decided to make the chiller output flow into the frag tank. This decrease the likelihood of the recirculation in water.

The QT tank under went a bit of a change. The last I spoke about it I was planning on a 55 gallon QT tank. This changed when I almost purchased to fish. They where two small blennys. I realized the tank would be much to large for these fish, and that the dosing of medication would get ridiculous. When the dollar per gallon show came around again I picked up a 20 gallon breeder. This tank is perfect size!

I have attached to it a CPR skimmer/biofilter, and soon will have a separate chiller connected. I will cycle this with some Dr. Tim's and soon add some fish. I can't wait for this part to be finished and get some fish ready for the display. I will try to post a picture of this setup tomorrow. I trying out a new technique to upload photos.

awesome diving photos. Don't know how I missed them!! Do you know any good snorkeling spots in the Keys? We're not diving cert'd so snorkeling is the best we can do, got a waterproof case for my SLR so i'm hopeful for some decent shots if we can find some decent places.

Any work being done on the set up this weekend?

Reviving a dead forum?

So it has been a long time since I posted to this forum, and I want to gauge the interest in me updating it. I have been VERY busy with.....Life. As a result I need to prioritize my time. Unfortunately Reef Central took a back seat.

I have a TON of update and would love to carry on this forum, but I also understand the lose of interest. So let me know.....

Brian, people only lose interest when you stop posting updates. I have followed from the beginning and will always enjoy updates.

Hey... I for one really want to see the updates.

Glad that life has been keeping you busy.

I have done so many updates on mine too. (I will be at 300 DT water volume by this weekend, compared to the 180 it was)

Come on man.. Start slow and lets see those updates.

Thanks for the complement. I wanted to create something that made people ask, how did he get that to stay like that. So thanks for doing just that. The support system is acrylic rods drilled into the rock, and a lot ( and I mean A LOT) of two part epoxy. As you can see below, at times I was impressed it stayed!

The Tank:

I want to continue where I left off in the forum, and walk through my build as if I were still doing it. However I have the tank up and running. So the purpose of this post is for full disclosure. I have had the tank running for May of 2013. There for the tank has been occupied by fish and coral for 8 months. So far all is well!
I have added many coral, but only two fish. I have some redesign issues (and time issues) with the QT system, which is why I only have added two fish.

Personal:

My personal life has changed as much (if not more) then my tank since my last post. During my last post I was studying to take the MCAT to gain entrance into Med school. I was also finishing my degree in Biochemistry/Biophysics at USF. I have graduated USF as of Dec 2013!!

The most exciting part, my wife and I have also announced her pregnancy! We will bring our child into this world late March or early April. The wife is pulling for March.
