I think its pretty much inevitable that there will be dead spots due to rockwork structures etc. That doesnt disqualify a pump from being a top tier pump because they all suffer from it unless you add ten pumps but then you are not comparing apples to apples.

I'm generally for cheaper items. Do I really need that lightening storm mode or would better over all quality for the same price be better. But honestly looking at the specs on this it's really well priced for what your getting. I'm just waiting for the smaller sized and cheaper model to come out. I don't need the $300 to rearrange my live rock for me.

A Chinese reefer said its noise is very big when it first run and unacceptable, but it will be getting better after run-in. The following video was recorded after run-in, using 70% power, you can hear the "rum rum" noise. watch at 0:45/10:40 http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XODAzNTc0MTgw.html Some ppl said its noise like a phone vibrating. Magnetic holder isn't strong enough. Flow is very strong as they claim. Hope they will improve it in next version. |

Too many variables to determine if this unit is performing correctly.
What if I listened to a ceiling fan on youtube that was out of balance and said "wow this thing is loud" and then the next day go to a friends house and notice his ceiling fan was silent. I had a jebao pump that made the same noise. Luckily I bought 2 and was able to compare. The other unit was dead silent. Determined that the impeller was out of balance on the first unit. Called the company I bought the pump from and they sent me a new impeller. Replaced the impeller and the problem was solved. Who knows if this guy has his cages installed correctly... Damaged his unit putting it together..... I mean come on. Judging a pump through youKU? especially trying to gauge magnetism through a video.... I don't know if this guys is a "troll" , but where I come from we have a saying... "Haters gonna Hate" lol Edit: Also DC pumps are sensitive to voltage. For example a DC pump designed to run on 220 and then converted to 110 may have some issues in the long run and vise versa... A pump company (who I will not name) already ran across this issue in the US. Last edited by muttley101; 10/16/2014 at 09:32 PM. |

After messing with this thing at my local shop I had them pre-order me one immediately. And the one they have is just a prototype. |

Just give u guy an impression - This thing don't slient as tunze or even jebao. That comment not just come from one video/reefer. There are many reefers complain about this.
Maybe USA version will be better, since this is the first batch released in china. |

I listened to the one on display at MACNA and it was pretty darn quiet, had to get my ear very close to the unit to hear it at all, tho they were still prototypes not the retail versions.

There are three production units in the US and all three are dead silent. I had to put my ear up to the aquarium to see if I could hear any noise. This was right out of the box too, wasn't even broken in yet.

I still want this. But I still think connecting to a controller would put this over the top. I know it comes with its own, but when I hit feed mode on my apex there is a whole program that goes into effect. Thats the one plus about vortechs.
Feed A Main pump off Vortechs down to 10% for 5 minutes After 5 minutes main pump kicks on Vortech in nutrient export mode for an hour After the hour Vortech back into tidal swell Not to mention you can program them for multiple changes during the day or night. I like this thing a bunch and will try it out, but connectivity is the big thing now. |
