Thanks Isaac. I appreciate the amount of rock I have and cannot imagine much more. Lots of room for fish movement and coral growth.

Wow I guess I haven't posted in a while. I have a few more frags now... Galaxea, birdsnest and Idaho grape montipora. Here's a few pictures from when I added with them.

I have a nice abundance of algae going on too. I suspect either bryopsis or turf. Fun times. I'm not worried about either one right now though. I'll clean things up with a water change this weekend and get another FTS then.

Okay... I was going to wait to post any more pictures until I cleaned up. But what's a log without showing the true colors of the tank as it looks day-to-day? Besides, I got a new camera. Without further ado, here's a slightly doctored FTS (I edited the back glass so it's not distracting, otherwise this is true to life).

My lawnmower posed for me, too.

Love the full tank shot. VERY cool aquascaping and it will fill in, in no time.

Aren't LM Blennies just the coolest fish? Their behavior and camouflage is really interesting. And I love their eyes always moving around checking things out.

Thanks guys. Those lawnmowers are very cool. Love watching him.

Got a couple more pictures from this weekend.

You already met this guy:

Now meet one of the newest members of the family:

He brought a little friend with him, one that I had not planned on adding. We'll see if he does well enough for me to get a picture to share... stay tuned!

Cool stuff! What is the last guy? Some kind of urchin? Looks dangerous

What kind of camera did you get? I am thinking of updating my camera for the planned trip to lapland and of course for my newly found hobby!

Michael

180 liter, sumpless reef, no skimmer for the moment.

Current Tank Info: Juwel VISION 180, currently only invertebrates, planning to have low bioload as I have no skimmer and no refugium for the moment.

Yes that's a blue tuxedo urchin. Not too dangerous... Though I don't want to brush up against him with the back of my hand if I can help it. Lol

I bought a Nikon D3300 DSLR. About time I upgraded from my canon point and shoot circa 1990.

Oh yes. That is an upgrade for real. Still going with the Canon 20D. Actually amazing what kind of pictures one can make with such an old piece of hardware. It all comes down to the glass. A little bit better performance in higher iso would be great that is why I am looking into upgrading.

So now I'm dosing. Alk and calcium are dropping a bit each day. Started with a half dose according to BRS calculator; three days later the levels are where I want them. So I'm going to put in the starting dose of .5ml/gal but only every other day and keep an eye on things.

Tonight I'm adding a couple more SPS. They're currently drip acclimating... as they both have some very cool little hitchhikers that require it.

Might be able to get some tonight but my schedule is full until Sunday. Saturday is the annual tank tour, BBQ and frag swap for the Spokane/Coeur d'Alene Reef Society.

Local club tank tour and BBQ was loads of fun. I got to see half a dozen or so members' tanks all around town, visit the LFS and hang out chatting about reefing while enjoying good food and company. I won a few things from the raffle too - mainly food for coral and fish.

Otherwise there isn't much new to report. I had turned off GFO to test a theory - and didn't do water changes during that time either. I've since resumed both. Everything is in what I hope to be its "final" location in the tank, with lights and flow set so all is well.

Here's a couple shots of the euphyllia, including a close-up of the frogspawn which seems to be reproducing in every way possible.

And a recent FTS. Little dark but I'm still working on the camera skills.

Thanks. I have a bit of cyano and GHA but I am trying to be patient and let things run their course. Although I am using manual removal as l can to help. Have to keep up proper husbandry!

You could join the club and maybe make it to some meetings, and the BBQ next year.

So I did not do water changes or run GFO for one month. Not the best approach. lol Not TOO bad, but ... a little out of control. My last water change was 8/23... one week later, here is what one area looked like:

So I turned off the lights for 3 days, in order to get a bit of a head start on cleanup. Here's a pic from tonight.

Tomorrow, blue lights only. Sunday, I'll scrub, siphon and do a 30G WC.

In the meantime, new tenants have started TTM.

I've also discovered that I have a bit of aiptasia here and there. My husband has always wanted more shrimp... so tomorrow, a few peppermints will be added. Hopefully one of them has a taste for them.
