I'm watching Marc's tank while he's away in Switzerland since I live down the road. When I got over there tonight to feed and check up on the tank, I noticed that his copperband butterfly was nowhere in sight.

I dropped the food in the tank and still, there was no sign of it.

I found it dead in the rockwork covered in baby brittle stars and was able to pull it out.

I wonder if he noticed it in the short time that he was home last night. Obviously not. He wasn't eating much when I was over on Thursday or Friday. I wonder if it starved itself to death because it was very thin when I found it.

He was alive on Friday before I left for MACNA nbut wasn't eating very much. He was very selective and only ate a few pieces of mysis.

I think Marc's son watched his tank while we were gone over the weekend. He got home late last night and had a ton of things to do before leaving today so I don't even know if he noticed it was dead. Or, it could have dies today before I dropped by. Not too sure.

You know I was with him when we unloaded the trailer from MACNA. I didn't sit in front of the tank like I normally do but I don't remember seeing the CBB around. It's all good Steve it was prolly something way before this weekend cause you're right it was looking a little thin. Guaranteed he will blame his son regardless so you are off the hook entirely!

I'll see if I can pick one up before friday when Marc gets back. Two funerals in a week can be dubbed down a bit with a free baby CBB right?

He will definitely blame his son for this.

I'll see if Frank wants to donate a CBB to him, preferably before Friday.

Now that I think of it, I didn't see his dog when I was over tonight........................

LOL its at the vet dont worry! Another thing, if Frank says he can't donate a CBB for any reason, just get one from him, put it in, and tell him I'll be there Saturday and pay him.

Maybe there isn't enough natural food in the tank for a CBB?

He's had that CBB for a while, IIRC, it was in a QT for quite some time b4 being added, because of some illness. Too bad, always sucks a@@ to loose any livestock.

Marc is such a huge proponent of QT'ing. Wouldn't that suck if we tried to replace it in the reef and it broke out in ich and killed off all his livestock? He would be ticked off!

Evan, isn't the prop section lighting on the same lighting schedule as the reef? When I was over there at 8:00, it was off. WTH?

Watch his tank crash under my care. No pressure.

Evan-

Frank said he'd order one at cost and all three of us can split the cost for the replacement.

Hehe you're just paranoid now. The prop 150 mh is only on from like noon till 7 or so. Don't worry Check the aqua controller tho and make sure the date isn't January 1st. His stupid electricity sux and shuts off alot.

I'd be happy to split the cost or the CBB. If it gets in before Friday night go ahead and put it in the 29 gallon in his sons room. There are tons of aiptasia in there and now that the eels gone it will be a great QT for it.

Cool.

Are the parameters in the 29g alright? I know it's been a while since he's tended to it. I guess I could test it.

Frank is going to let me know when it comes in and I'll go pick it up.

Yeah, maybe you should test it. All the test kits are in the fish room. It may just need a quick water change. I'll be there on Saturday and I could do it then. Maybe Frank could just babysit the CBB til then.

Marc.. Sorry about your loss.... seems like you've got great friends looking out for your tank while you are away.

I recently left my tank on it's own for 11 days and just had a co-worker refill my top-off resevoir once... with everyone looking out for yours, it should be fine.

Celebrate family and don't blame your son
