Here is a picture damsai sent of the 12" 60w Cree model. It's $178 and includes wireless controller. This is the one that I'm getting. They said it's easy to replace the leds, if one fails. I can do it myself. But comes with 2 year warranty. Will report back once I get it.

I finally got things settled with Lyn. They are going to build me new lights per this layout. I just want to get feedback on the layout and LED colors.

warm white 6500k
royal blue 460nm
green 515nm
red 630nm
violet 400nm(they can't get 420)
moonlights 460nm

Does this look good?

They cannot do a grid dimmer layout. So I have the blues on one dimmer and the whites on another.

John, if I'm not mistaken the big difference is looks and a heat sink go to the nova a4. The d120 doesn't use a heatsink or "look" as nice. Other than that I don't know of a difference, Sam actually recommended the d120 to me at first but when the a4'swent on sale I couldn't pass them up

I don't see why? They don't need to do a grid layout. Evergrow uses the same layout minus a dimmer and can alternate led's on the same dimmer.

I am buying these tomorrow and want to make sure of a couple things before I order.

http://www.aliexpress.com/product-gs...olesalers.html

I am getting 4 d120 across the top of my 300g.
------------------------------------------------------------
Questions:

Is this a good color ratio to work with? Is 4 violets too many?

I already told Sunny that I want 5 cw, 5 nw and 5ww so I'm splitting up the whites evenly. Is this a good idea?

If my tank is 31" deep will 90 degree optics be sufficient?
-------------------------------------------------------------
I can't wait to see what's out in three or five years. For now I'm going simple with the d120 like bhazard suggested in the first place.

That is exactly what I got Snausy but with no alterations to the whites. if I make the white and blue channels even it is a little bit too blue so you should be fine....possibly you would want even more warm whites.

P.S. I HATE the Windex water look so if you like a bluer tank you might be fine as is.

LEDs for a 150?

Okay, so I'm definitely new to the saltwater world, luckily it looks like the majority of you are lighting experts I'm looking to put a set of LEDs over my soon to be acquired 150 gallon tank. I was thinking 3X D120s or similar, but I really have about 500 total to put into lighting, although I'd love to do less.

I'll be growing mostly soft corals and maybe a few SPS many months down the road, so I'm really looking for a nice set that will not need to be replaced as my prowess in the hobby also grows.

I'd appreciate any advice you guys might have,

- Chad

Yes, they can alternate the led's on the same dimmer. They can basically do and led layout you can think of. The only constraint is the dimmer layout. I thought the evergrow was alternating the blues and whites over two dimmers. My thought was by having the blues and whites on separate dimmers I could control the color of the light better.

For under 500, you will be lucky to find anything better than the d120 as far as best bang for your buck goes. I think three d120s will be right around that mark or a little higher
Anything USA made is going to cost you $300+ per fixture. People have been favoring the d120 or similar chinese fixtures because its the best bang for your buck. I also have a 150G with dimensions 72x18x29 and looking at the d120s. Now its just a matter of hoe you want your color layout to be.

As for damiasystems, I tried speaking with them about accepting CC or paypal and to give us a discount for a possible groupbuy. They had no interest in a groupbuy and they said if we do a groupbuy discount, it will be nomore than 5% discount.

The Damai light does look nice, but only 20 leds for the d120 size fixture? You do realize you're getting less than half the leds, and the current they are getting won't be much stronger than Evergrow's? Its not a good value, controller or not.

When i said D120, I was referring to the Evergrow D120.

Yeah. I was saying the Evergrows are better than the Damais, and cheaper.

You need to use warm or neutral whites instead of the default 12k "cool whites" if you have twice as many blues to whites. Using 2:1 blue:white with cool whites end up being too blue for most people.

Great fixtures though. Lots of value in them.

I did a 5-10% ramp up a day. They acclimated just fine. If you start to see stress, back off a bit.

I love being able to set new arrivals on the rocks instead of the sand, and just dimming the lights to acclimate.

Question: Can we get the same effect as Cree LEDS if we use multiple Bridgelux LEDs?

Thanks for that. I'm moving away from the windex look as well. ATI Blue+ has enough of my money. I've seen some very nice looking tanks that almost look natural with sunlight warm light instead of the blue and I quite like it.

Changed it to 4cw, 5nw, 6ww. Good enough for me.

I will say this though, I'm having a HECK of a time giving her my money. I live in Washington state and when you try to order the fixture you get this error:

"We are sorry, but due to legal restrictions, AliExpress is unable to provide escrow services to residents located in Washington State."

I'm no lawyer but it seems to be a PITA that keeps people from making purchases to me. Can't understand why washington's money isn't as good as anyone else's. I'm ready to PayPal RIGHT NOW but I can't get it done. haha crazy.

Talking with Sunny about it and we can indeed do paypal, for a 5% fee. It's going to be western union moneygram. Cheapest way.

Here is her suggested layout. Does this look reasonable to you guys? If so I'm buying them tomorrow.

Here is another alternative Sunny sent me if I thought that was going to be too blue. What about this one:

Not sure, help plz.

If you like #2 then I would suggest this:

(1.3)

or

or (1.44)

or

(1.55)

(blue/white)
