It is right between 7-7.5"......so a 1x8 should work. Or a 1x10 to be really safe.

Last edited by Slammed01; 11/04/2014 at 04:37 PM. Reason: I may do it out of ply I have, not sure if they make 8" or 10" Whitewood boards. 8" isn't available at my home Depot, guess I'll check Lowe's!

get a good quality plywood and you should be good if you can't find boards.

Using birch, if it comes down to it may use that. Hopefully wrap it up Sunday then start primer and painting.

Moving! Ugh

I'm getting ready to move in about four weeks, moving my 235 gallon bowfront tank. If I bring all the live rock and water, will the tank need to cycle again?

It might have a small cycle, but it shouldn't be a full blown cycle. If you keep the rock wet and keep most of your water, you should be all set. Go with new sand if you use it, that will also help to avoid a cycle.

Progress, adding a plywood brace on the top underside for extra support and get the 1/8" my to bend on the front

Corner Aquscape ideas

Hi all, I have been piecing together a 92 gallon corner for some time now. I am getting close to pulling the trigger and putting it all together and was thinking about the aquascaping. It is challenging with a corner setup to make it not look like just a pile of rock stuck in the corner and with that in mind I was thinking about setting up my aquascape like I would compose a photograph. I would frame it across the bottom front with some candy cane corals Do a minimalist / bonsai / cave live rock design behind it and then frame it across the back wall at the top with some sps corals. What do you think?

I like to put the rock back and towards the glass in a "V", that gives you a good open sand area in the front and middle.

Ran out of time so had to spray it... So far so good. Should have rolled the front tho as my took the primer OK but the black could have been better.

Looking good.
I was going to build my canopy that way too, but ended up being much easier the way I did mine with the tools I have access too.

This wasn't bad, remembering how I built my Bowfront front was the hard part. Trying to get it up and running next weekend maybe!

Ugh. That's probably not gonna happen. Wonder how much it would cost to get this built locally.

They aren't bad to build, the sides and top are the easy part. It's the curved front that is the tough part.
I went with a piece of stainless steel for my curved front, I have a full metal shop at my work so it was just so much easier to use that material......and it won't rust.

Yeah I pretty much have zero DIY skills lol. I don't absolutely need a canopy but it would have made it much easier to do a custom lighting setup.

I trimmed my return to 20 3/4 as recommended, do I need to trim more or am I OK?
