I am trying to decide on sand for my 92 gallon. Because of the problems we have getting good flow do you end up with lots of potential sand tornadoes? I like the look of finer grain but just worry about that

I realize this could have already been addressed in this thread, but only just found it and it is 150 pages long
![]() I am starting to look at getting a larger reef tank and my options for location are pretty limited. My wife mentioned to me that she thought a bowed corner tank would be good to allow more water volume while not encroaching too much floor space in the room. I started to read how much a PITA they can be since they are not popular and therefore things are not designed for them, so I'm still weighing options, but the one thing I am still struggling with is where you can buy bowed front glass corner tanks?? Who makes these? Also, I think a great design would be to have surface skimming run both back walls, but not sure if there is a pre-built tank like this or if I would have to get something custom made to suit my wants/needs. EDIT: While I am pretty handy, I just don't have the time to spend on a lot of DIY stuff like a stand or sump, etc. So I'm willing to pay to get what I'm looking for.

Aqueon made mine and I built my own overflow. The standard overflow is only in the corner. I wouldn't get too carried away with overflow size. One side should do fine and is MUCH easier to build. Get the standard aquarium instead of reef ready if you want a custom overflow.

I just filled my 54 G corner 2 days ago. one problem I have been looking into is powerhead placement to get good flow but not create a whirl pool does anyone have any ideas?
my return pump is 800GPH ( it is also pushing a check valve open I feel like it cuts the flow down a bit) 2 Hydor 600GPH power heads Im looking into a bigger power head around a 1300GPH to mix with one of my 600 GPH due to my flow being little weak but this is what I have to work with at the moment. Right now I just what to avoid the whirlpool effect.

Upgrading my 92. Any recommendations?
Hey all, I'v got a 92gal corner bow and want to upgrade, but absolutely love the corner look and dont think I could go back to a regular rectangular tank. I am looking at the Tsunami 190 gallon quarter cylinder from Fishtanks Direct, but have never had an acrylic tank before and don't see many reviews. Do any of you have experience with one of these, or have any recommendations on where to get a quality 200gal corner tank at a reasonable price?

Do tanks in a corner count as corner tanks if they are 4-sided? I have my 120 as the hypotenuse of the two corner walls. coral placement is getting a little tricky with so many viewing angles.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but aquarium depot is formerly known as reefs2go feel free to look up the many many many complaints about them but they are a company that frequently changes name, that alone should tell you something an obout them.
In other news im sad to say im no longer a member of the corner club. I replaced my 92 corner with an 80 shallow deep blue. I loved the somewhat unique nature of the corner tank but i wouldnt go back to one unless i had to. Getting the lighting and flow scituated was a lot easier then with the corner tank. |

My Simple 54g Corner Reef
Hi Everyone!
I'm brand spankin' new here, For about 6 months, I'm maintaining a very simple 54g corner reef tank. and seems to be well balanced... as I do a 30% manual water change every three weeks, phosphate and nitrite levels seem adequate. My tank currently consists of: Black sides, Fluval 406 pump system, 1 Fluval Sea Marine & Reef 2.0 LED w/ app timer and 1 Fluval Aquasky w/ remote, Two Fluval Sea Pumps 1600 lph..(Took one out, too much flow for my Scooter Blenny) Substrate: Black sand, purple, red and bright green Coralline rocks. Corals: Polyps, Mushrooms, LPS Candycane, Frogspawn, Hammers, Zoanthids, SPS Starburst, Finger Leather, Flower tree, Palythoas, and others easy corals. Invertebrates: five bubble tip anemone's, three urchins, six hermit crabs, two red sea stars, one serpent sea star, pompom crab, porcelain crab. Fish: Blue Hippo Tang, Picasso Trigger, Lunar Wrasse, Yellow Wrasse, Six Line Wrasse, Geoffrey's Leopard/ Potters Wrasse, Eibli Pigmy Angel, Lawnmower Blenny, Dragonette Scooter Blenny, Red Hawkfish. Feed: Frozen Myosis, Frozen Brine, Tisbe Copapods, Amphipods , Live baby Brine, Dry Marine mini pellets, Super Vegi Kelp Flakes, Garlic drops ... almost daily. Live Reef feed: Coral smoothie, Trace Elements, Iodide... weekly. I just got my Potter's Wrasse a few days ago.. I'm worried, he doesn't seem to be eating.....Any idea's? I think I'm gonna need a larger tank soon... anybody have a black drilled 92 corner tank with stand and canopy for sale? |
