Hey I'm from Fort Wayne and new to the saltwater hobby. I've been researching for a couple of years and I just picked up a used 55g. Looking to get more information from this website.

One more time....
Due to finincial problems, I had to sell my tank a couple of years ago. I'm thinking about getting a Red Sea Max 250 and running a reef tank. Any advice would be welcomed and appriciated.

First off, I'm a huge science nerd. And my love of science spans the gamut. But, I have always loved the intricacies of biological systems and ecological systems (the oceans in particular). I've been drawn to it since I was a child. I just never had the chance to pursue these interests as a profession.
After reading through this site, I think I have found the right place to explore. Thank you. Hopefully, after a lot of reading (especially Reefkeeper's newb articles), I will get hands on and eventually help to contribute. |

Hello all, we are ray and jennifer gerth. We are new to the hobby. We have a 55gal AGA, a 20 gal sump, protein skimmer. We started our tank the first week in Jan. It sure has been a learning experience. We got a couple of small Black False Percula Clown fish 3 weeks ago and all is well w/ them. So we went yesturday and got some new tank mates for them. We got a 1 Spotted Blenny, 1 Black Cucumber, 1 Purple Firefish, & 2 Blue Legged Hermit crabs. Hope to b adding some more soon. TTFN.

Hey everyone just wanted to introduce myself and get acquainted with fellow aquarists. I've been in the hobby a few years but still feel like I am a newbie and know I still need to learn a ton so I'm hoping this forum helps.

Hello every
Hello everyone. I am just starting to build my first tank and it will be a 150 gallon tank with a bar built around it. I will have lots of question on what I need to do to make the reef beautiful. The tank will be on the back wall not under the bar top and have shelves and cabinets all around it.
Thanks Shannon |

I am going to school in Powell Wyoming, but i am originally from Puerto Rico. Oh how i miss the beach and snorkling, and now i would love to be able to find my own fish instead of buying them overpriced. i have to drive alllll the way to billings montana to buy anything fish related, the biggest tank i can have in the dorms in a 30gal. last semester i had chiclids... dont get me wrong i liked them but after 4 years or trying out different breeeds im done with fresh water i wish i would have swiched sooner.
The tank looks a little cloudy, but thats cuz I had to move the rocks a bit so the tang can hide. i still need allot of tlc. another thing i want to do is change the background to black. 6 Green Chromis 2 clark clownfish 1 yellow eye tang 3 margarita snails 4 hermit crabs |

My supervisor told me about this site. 4th tank, started with a 10, then a 30 hex, then 72 bow and currently a 29 gal. 72 was "to big" for base housing, so the 29 is what I am left with. Decided I was going all out on this tank, and am currently rebuilding it. Failsafe sump(found on here) pine base(found on here) oak wrap with walnut and oak doors. 250w MH, and adding 1 T5, maybe 2. using case fans for a PC as cooling for the top, also going to pic up blue ones so as to have "night lighting" I will be starting my own thread as I haven't seen one completely like my plan. Should be a long a fun build @ 30 min a night....lol Going to drill the tank for the overflows saturday!
Here is a current tank photo, Call it the before pic: |

Hello all. Totally new to hobby. Bought a 28 gallon nano cube, but havent set it up yet. Been reading up so I can learn as much as I can. So far hVe the tank,100 watt visi-thermstealth heater heater, test kits, jbj c-scope refractometer, spectrapure 90 gpd rodi system, tds meter,32 gallon grey brute can,6 gallon bucket, and nano light for the refugium im setting up in the back chamber. Still need power center to plug everything in too(suggestions on good buy??). Im also gonna ditch the bio balls but keep the carbon and sponge. Figure my LR and LS will give me all the biologicL filtration I need.

Hi Smith! Welcome to RC! I just got registered myself. Not new to big tanks but new to salt almost 1 year ago. Wow its way different than fresh! My 1st SW tank is my current 210 mixed reef. I learned 90% of how to setup and care for it right here on RC. Good luck with your 180, slow and steady but you already know that!
