Is this the new evergrow fixture that they're making for you? Can't thank you enough for all your time and research. I hope this much anticipated evergrow fixture isn't priced too much higher then their d120s.

Also which color blue is the "B" LEDs? 460nm or 440nm?

Yes it can. The person says that it can be customized to the way I want it. Actually I was the one who replaced the 2 blue bulbs to 2 purples bulbs. Maybe I should tell her to replace the moonlight blue bulbs instead.

From looking at the picture, it seems that the bulbs are a bit distant from each other but I think it could be ok since it is a 36" long light fixture with 90 degree optics. I can also choose 60 or 120 degree optics but decided to go with 90 since I don't have a deep tank and the fixture will not be that far off from the water.

I hope these lights will be sufficient to grow most LPS and maybe some SPS.
Again I need your inputs or comments on my decision. I am a very undecided shopper, especially for something that I cannot see in person or has had many reviews on it.

Hopefully someone on this forum has seen or experienced these light fixtures.

They even have a 64x3W light fixture but that is way over my budget and cost almost the double of the 36x3W fixture.

Thanks!

I like the lights, would use them myself, but never have so yes, let's hope someone who has sees this. I was thinking the 36 also with 120's for optics and put right over the water. Might have to build a splash guard, but it should sustain and grow LPS, would probably need more lights to grow the intense light requiring SPS though. Jmo

My thought with that many blues for the moonlights is that it would be too bright if they are 3w decent brand. That many 1w would be even too bright for me. I would worry that everything in the tank thinks there is a weird storm each night and not just the moon

Its not hard, but its also not optimal. I converted the Nova model into an Apex dimmable one. Since the Apex uses 0-10v analog dimming, almost all of the drivers can't dim under 10% light without shutting off. 10% light is still a lot of light.

Using PWM drivers, and their own controller, they can achieve smooth dimming down to 1%

If you want, reef breeders.com resells these and will add Apex dimmable mean well drivers for $99

My main light is a DIY light that includes cyan, red, cool blue, green, and violets on a colored string. The colors do make some coral pop more, but they also make colored red and green spots on the live rock.

Low K whites like these lean heavily toward red and green in spectrum. This is an experiment to see if I can recreate the pop of what my DIY colored string does, but without the red and green spotting on the rocks.

Something bothers me about this light. It doesn't have enough LEDs for bridgelux, and it is too expensive for 2 generation old Cree LEDs.

A Maxspect Razor is a better buy for the same price.

Yes. That will be the light that is shipping to me.

I'm hoping for $300 or under. $250 would be a steal (Bridgelux). The Cree version cannot exceed $389 because the Maxspect Razor 120w version would be a better buy at that price.

Why don't light makers design thier fixtures keeping in mind that a lot of tanks have a 2 in support in the middle? If Im gonna buy a 3 cluster fixture, it does me no good if one cluster is right above the support. Or does it not make that big of difference?

Its like a Chinese eBay. Its safe. A lot of us placed orders with no issues. If anything, your CC company will call you to authorize the purchase.

Where did you buy them? The led driver might be bad.

There was a group buy from my local reef site. Some one else did the group buy (a member sells them) so I do not know where they came from. Does that sound like a bad diver?

Hey guys,
I've been dwelling over these d120 lights for awhile now, going to hold out until I can take a look at the new version coming out at the end of the month. Would like some oppinions on the colours I have chosen.
Im looking for the blue dimmer to be a darker blue I can have on in the evening that hopefully the fish will sleep but coral will still POP. And the white dimmer to provide enough of a spectrum to hopefully grow a few basic sps as well as my lps and palys/mushrooms. Did I see something about a group style order? (a pm would be appreciated) Or a discount for RC members? Would I count? LOL
I just need help with the colour part before I loose my mind, I know NOTHING about lighting so... here goes!

I figured out what was wrong with my lights. One of the LED chips is out/shot. I can use a wire to jump across it and the rest come on.

So does anyone know where to buy a few of the LEDs? Bridgelux. ?

They are safer than Ebay, they hold your money until you say that it is ok to pay the vendor. It is basically Ebay and Paypal rolled into one but with some added anti scam filters. I assume it would be impossible for the vendor to scam anyone from this site. Your only risk would be the site itself but it has been around for a long time and has a good reputation.

Bhazard,
I have an75g reef with sps and lps corals. I purchased two evergrow d120s w/ 90 degree optics. I mounted the fixtures 6" above the water level in a 20" tall tank in a canopy. Should I remove the optics seeing evergrow's angle on their LEDs themselves are 90 degrees??
