Anyone know where to purchase replacement led chips to fit these units? I have the one with the 3watt chips.

Thanks!

I want to hijack this and add a question. I am thinking about changing those annoying cw's I have. Mine are Bridgelux, if I change do I need to stick to the same brand or can I get cree for example with no ill effects on the drivers?

you can change to Cree XP series without ill effects on the drivers if you current chips are the 3W ones.

Is your current cw too yellow or too white? The Cree XP CW generally ranges from 7000-8300K, so they are pretty yellow.

I have LED colors from warm white to 12,000K of EPI, BridgeLux and Cree but unfortunately, I cannot show you a pic of the difference because my camera skill is terrible

Thanks Wingo, they are too blueish and yes, they are 3w. Was hoping to just take them all out and get warm whites instead since I am currently running white, red and green channel at 90% and blue violet at maybe 20%. It obviously works but it is not optimal I guess. I am assuming that this will have some effect on the bulbs but how much I do not know.

Now I just need to lure some unsuspecting sap with soldering skills to my place. Wonder if cupcakes are good bait for electricians?

You can buy replaceable bridgelux leds from eBay, , and aqua style amongst other places. You just need the type with "legs" instead of stars so you can solder it directly in place of the previous led. You can't swap from bridge lux to Cree, the PCB board isn't designed for Cree.

You also can't swap if the fixture uses parallel wiring. Evergrow ones are in series and replaceable by any color. The twilight ones are in parallel I believe and would not allow changing to a led with a different fv. I tried.

Evergrow adds ICs in each of their LEDs to prevent an entire string from blowing out if a led died, so it is preferable to get LEDs from them instead of other places that may not add voltage protection.

I don't see anything wrong with it. You would want more 450 for the photosynthetic benefit over 440 though. Swap them.

No guarantees with custom ratios however. Some can turn out great, and some can turn out awful. I've seen both happen to me already. High risk/ high reward

Very very soon.

I have a pre production sample coming my way which should arrive this weekend.

I'll be a tester to see how everything works out over the tank, report bugs, and to review the fixture. It should be available around that timeframe, and I'm sure they'll make an announcement to those that have purchased from them before.

They will also want feedback to see if people want larger sizes, more features.. etc. It will evolve over time based on feedback, so speak your minds.

I purchased these http://www.aliexpress.com/store/prod...586804992.html two months ago.

Im happy to say my tank has never looked this good. Corals (mostly SPS) have grown a few inches. Im running the 23 blues\4 UV at 100% and the 19 white\ 9 blue at 35%.
I just ordered 16 more royal blues from sam because I want to get a more 20k look.

Any word on the new programmable fixtures yet? Sunny told me it would happen at the end of the month.

I have a 40 gallon breeder and would just need one of these fixtures. what size optics should i get in order to get full coverage. I would like to keep them less that 10" above the tank.

Oh, forgot to mention the dimensions are different between Cree XP and Bridgelux, so you have to wire a star type heat sink to the contact separately.

EPI, Edison share the same dimensions with Bridgelux in general.

This is what mine looks like with the warm, neutral, and cool whites, blues, and violets. I think I nailed it, but I might try adding some reds and seeing if it makes it look even better. The warm whites should provide enough red in theory without needing to do so.

I would love to see a FTS of this light. I am thinking this would be perfect for my 40B but I too am thinking of adding 2 reds and 2 greens. What do you think.

I have been searching for that perfect crisp color without it looking too pink or purplish. My leds would be sitting approx 6" above waterline enclosed in a canopy so I won't be needing optics. I plan on keeping a mixed reef with option to keep anything if I find something I really like. Any thoughts? I have been following this thread for Weeks but only see peoples gfid ideas but not top many tank shots.

The photo of the lights is not the clearest, f2.8 does that to you. Unlike looking at the light directly the photo shows you the different blues.

I am very happy with the colour, spread and power, my tank is 26" deep and without a par meter i would say i am getting plenty of penetration. I am going to reduce the white channel back to a max of 65%.

This is the closest to what i'm looking for color wise but woild love to see the breakdown of this grid.Any WY of sharing Hoity? Or did I miss it somewhere already?

I got the default sunrise/sunset program for the new fixtures, but I can't attach the excel sheet with it while I'm away.

It basically shows the brightness changing at every hour. If that means every hour can be custom, it would have 24 time periods to set over 6 or so that some fixtures use.
