Just another boring picture. Charging the drill battery, then off to the hardware store.

My black molly (converted to salt water) has ick. Treated her with Kordon Ick*Attack. Turned the light off, took out the liverock, and threw a towel over over tank to make it dark.

Was tightening the bulkhead fitting on my 20L with a pipe wrench and went too tight and cracked it.

I was using my thumb nail to scrape the dried precipitate from around the hole and must of pressed too hard causing an invisible micro-crack. The tightening took it from there and caused the full-blown crack.

I switched this build/stock thread from its former home in the Nano Reefs forum to this forum. I decided to try SPS and this is the forum to find out about them. The temperatures are getting better in Montana and I'm longing to have some corals in my tank. I think I'll get a couple frags to try in my quarantine tank for now but haven't decided from what genus to get them from. Can anybody suggest a genus that is hardy and would be suitable for my tank?

She died after six days of treatment. She was the last of five black mollies and I'm not getting anymore. They're not very hardy and since they didn't look full grown at the lfs, I'm baffled as to why they died. No adverse tank conditions or water quality either. This last one lived another three weeks longer than the second to the last and the only one that got ich.

Here is a conversation taken from the DRS F&S sponsor forum about my Hanna pH/ORP tester.

Emailed Kevin at Aquatic Dreams in Spokane, WA about special ordering an extra thick glass 20 gallon long. He doesn't do that, just sells Aqueon and Perfecto tanks. Anyone know where I can get a tank specially ordered?

Checked Glass Cages and Ocean Reeflections and they want to much for a 1/4" thick glass tank. Looks like it might have to be made locally.

Why do you want it extra thick, are you going rimless?

If it's just due to your experience cracking the old one - don't do it. Bulkheads do not need to be tightened with a pipe wrench, in fact they should not be IMO.

Stunreefer, it is due to my experience in a leaky bulkhead on the QT. I just assumed I needed to tighten the bulkhead like shown on this page. See page 10 or so.

I'm making swiss cheese. IMO, over the frame for anything is cheap. See some of the hobbyists' pics on oceansmotions.com. And as far as going rimless, I don't see any advantages there.

OK I gotcha... extra thick bottom would make since if your doing CLs or something... all rimless tanks need extra thick glass to prevent bowing (more surface area for silicone to adhere).

Yes, 5 holes along the back just for the closed loop, one more along the back for return, one on the bottom for overflow and one more on bottom for w/c drain.

I think I'm giving up on this. It's over the top and too much $$. Someone will come along and do something very similar at want half as much for it. Besides, my controller has a wavemaker on it.

Got a 10 gallon for mixing w/c water. It drains into the garbage can below.

I still don't see an advantage to rimless.

FWIW, the standard small tanks that are made by the big companies (all-glass, perfecto, etc.) have 3/16" thick glass panels. I believe 1/4" is what I need for making swiss cheese. I've got my heart set on an OM 4-way.
