i know capn, i felt bad for the fish it had been at the LFS for a month and figured it would have a better chance with me(second butterfly fish i rescue from there) the last one was a saddleback that would barely eat anything and was see through, after weeks of live brine and various foods it got better and after 3 months would eat flake and anything i would put in the tank. i have talked to the LFS and they will let me know by next week if they can get me a 1/4 pound of black worms(smallest they can get), if that fails then i will have to look at ordering some online soon.

Kudora, I've been culturing grindal worms for my tank. A lot easier to take care of then black worms and you can expand the culture as much as you need. My fish love em. Try em out. If you're in bismarck sometime I'll get you some.

CBB update:
for the afternoon feeding i tried some hikari marine blend frozen today and everyone in the 30 gallon hated it. for the the night feeding i used PE mysis, garlic and vitachem and the CBB tried to eat every singe shimp i put in there. was great seeing him not spit food out

Got some goodies in the mail last night, a RKL for this tank. i hooked it up and my temp was off around 1 degree so true tank temp was 80.5, i know a couple of weeks ago when it was warm outside it had hit 81.5 so it would have actually been 82.5. lowered my heater temps and will try to lower it slowly to 79 to 78.5 F

Congrats on the Reefkeeper Lite. I have an ACjr and really like having it to control all the stuff that it does. I wish I had researched it a bit more because I would have gone with a higher model but for now it will do.

i am almost feeling the same, i ordered two and might send one back and go RKE with the 84 gallon tank and hook this one up to the 40 breeder.

I was really new to the world of marine tanks and was having temperature issues the first summer my tank was set up and wanted something quick to control the lights and fans since I dont have central air because I dont have a furnace and I grabbed what the local supplier had in stock. The biggest issue I have is that the ACjr I grabbed didn't have the optional serial port and after seeing Tswifty's and Melev's print outs and the ability to check it by I-phone and internet I can see getting a better one soon and use the jr on a new tank I'm collecting the equipment for.

thats what i am afraid of, still trying to decide. since the RKL was $99 i dont think i will return it and pay shipping since it does come with a pc4 and they cost 90 plus shipping, i will need 2 pc4s if i went with the RKE anyways so i might buy a RKE down the road.

U can always upgrade 1 of ur rkls down the road. DA has a trade in program u just gotta send them the head unit and I think its like $250. U get to keep the temp probe and pc4.

nothing really to report, been busy redoing a bathroom and slowly getting my 40 breeder up and running.
the Copperbanded has Lymphocystis behind one of his fins, it looks like he is on the mend and is very active and eating like a champ i put a small cleaner shimp in there today and the copperbanded wanted to be cleaned right away but i think the shrimp just wanted to chill for a bit pic of the CBB

Cleaner shrimp did a great job and cleaned the CBB well the cleaner shrimp worked it for 25 min strait last night. the CBB seamed so much happier today and is even more active. i have had him for several weeks now is eating every hikari mysis shimp i put in the tank now. still touch and go with rods and pe mysis(rejects 60% of it) tho. been using a bit of garlic and vitachem with his food daily.
might start mixing the hikari mysis with some other things see if i can trick him to eat some of it in the next couple of days. comments or opinions welcome

bulk reef supply order came in today.
got a 2 part starter kit, 2 thin profile gallon jugs and 2 BRS dosers. they were out of drews doser so i decided to give these a try. a little bulky for my taste but worth it if i can automate the 2 part. copperband has been with me 5 weeks now, i bumped the feedings to 4 times a day during the week and 5 times a day during the weekend. he loves the cleaner shimp and sleeps next to him at night. the Lymphocystis is completely gone and he is completely healed up. one thing i have noticed is that i have to let the mysis completely thaw(20 or so min) or he will spit half of them out. he spent 4 weeks at the LFS and 5 with me now and is looking great. i went ahead and named him shyguy for the NES char but he is anything but. out shines any fish i have owned by far questions and comments welcome
