Are you hanging just the one light? If just one you really shouldn't need a rail. There are two 10-32 screw holes on top of the light that you can use to hang it with. Someone posted their setup in this post: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...&postcount=234

If you are hanging more than one, then you will need n-1 rails, where n is the number of lights you're hanging. The length of the rails you need depends on how far apart you want the lights. According to AI's specs, you will need the following rail lengths:

18" rail - if desired spacing between lights is 12"-14.25"
12" rail - if desired spacing between lights is 3.75"-9"
6" rail - if desired spacing is 0-3"

Anyone have this issue? My lights are set to 80% intensity but main screen shows that im at 16%. When I raise it to 100% intensity I think the main screen shows about 30%. Light are visually not at 80%. I would appreciate any help since AI hasn't returned my call.

Sounds like your coral acclimation is turned on. This will decrease the power to what you state and then ramp them up to your max power each day until the last day.

Coral acclimination mode or your in the middle of a days cycle (auto mode). In auto mode the lights automatically adjust brightness to simulate sunrise/sunset. Go to manual mode if you want 80% constant.

Thanks for the article! Interesting that too much red can be bad but some may be good. Also interesting how UV has no effect whatsoever.

Ok problem solved. The time on the controller was set and hour too early(real time). When I set it to the correct time everything works fine. Still disappointed that AI never getting back to me. Their call volume must be though the roof but thats their fault for not including a instruction manual.

For everyone that has already gotten their Vegas you know there is no mounting screws included. If anyone is going to hang their Vegas using this option the screw size for the pre drilled holes is 10-32 no longer than 1". Use only this size screw and hand tighten until you feel resistance. You need two screws for each Vega...

hey guys.
i replaced my sols with vega today and i used the same old rail with same old screws that sols used and its works perfectly.
here are some pics.

This is 5 sols at 50% 9" above water line.

Compared to 5 Vegas at 30% 9" above water line.

You have your back side of the inwall in your garage???? I would be highly concerned with auto toxins, dust, unwanted critters, and visitor interaction... Plus climate controllability.

its a 3.5 gar garage. only park 1 car inside every now and then. tank is covered with netting for any dust or unwanted stuff. i have a 1.5 hp commercial chiller that keeps the tank right at 79F. 300gal tanks new but it replaced a 120gal at the same spot which was there for over 8 yrs. never had any issues.

This is what the garage looks like lol. (by the way its not a garage anymore its been promoted to a Fish room)

thanks bnumair, so 3 would actually be the way to go to eliminate any dim areas.

Does anyone have PAR values from the Vega yet? I'm trying to position mine but don't have a meter handy. 24 inch deep tank. Thank you.

i had a same tank 48x24x24 and i had 3 sols 10" above water line and no dead dim spots.
but if you were to place them like 12" high u probably will be fine with 2 but then u will lose the par as vegas are less par than sols.
