Just getting caught up on this thread, the beginning and the last few pages. It looks like these are some great light fixtures at a good price. I'm interested in the purchase and shipping details you mentioned. I'm assuming it would take two fixtures to cover a 72 bow, width 48"?

I just joined their forums the other day but haven't spent much time on them yet. I'm considering making it out to the next meet in a couple weeks. I'm still really new in the hobby so it'd be nice to meet some locals and get some more info.

It's probably best to contact Sunny to order. I think they will be using Paypal instead of Aliexpress now as its easier. I'm actually excited to rip this thing open, and I may do it tonight. |

Just click where it says contact now to get in touch with them. You can request your own led layout as well, but it usually costs like $14-20 more. It is worth it though compared to the standard 1:1 blue:white. Use my layout if it is too confusing. |

For those that have the D120 sized unit, you think this is OK for a 36" wide tank?
Just wanted to confirm. |

Curiosity got the best of me, so I opened the fixture.
For a light with a lot going on, it is surprisingly clean inside. The wires are connected via quick connects, and the same/similar drivers used in the Nova are there. This means you can swap leds at will to any color you desire by soldering/desoldering. The finned heatsink is the big upgrade over the d120, and it covers the entire led board here. Little to no heat can be felt under the leds, or through the side vents. The fans are pretty quiet too. New additions here are the power supply/driver running the moonlights, and the circuit board that houses the controller. ![]() ![]() The sticker is very helpful ![]() ![]() One of the drivers is only 530mah for some reason. ![]() Possible fan and moonlight power supply ![]() Linked connector. Just plug into another light's connector and you can power it with one cord. Awesome feature. ![]() |

After Paypal fees, its around $300. There might be a quantity discount if you order more than 1.
Considering a comparable light like the Apollo Reef Led is $399 and needs an Apex or a controller like the DIM4 to run for $80 more.. or that the 120w Maxspect Razor is $399 but not able to be customized or linked to one power cord, the price is pretty good. The only thing that I see that needs improvement, is that it only dims when you set it to. In other words, it doesn't slowly ramp up or down, its an abrupt change on the hour (or minute). |

How quiet are the fans compared to the D120?

What are the dimensions? It looks thicker than the D120.

Bhazard. Any thought one how many of this new fixture for a 72*36*27h? I was thinking 4. 90 degree optics.
Would you stick with the ratio you last posted? Looked good. I am ready to pull the trigger on these new ones. |

If you don't like a 16k blueish look, I would change it a bit, otherwise I like it. A few reds wouldn't hurt either.
3 or 4 should work. I would use 3 over my 72' 120 gallon. Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2 |

I didn't even notice the fans being on. They are the same as the Nova fans, but they might be running at a slower rpm to reduce noise. Still no heat around the fixture.
Ill check dimensions tomorrow, but it looks a little bigger than a d120. I also noticed you can set the brightness every half hour which is nice. Unfortunately, it doesn't ramp up or down though, it just switches to the brightness set. Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2 |

Another thing I noticed about the dimming... The white and blue channels shut off at 10% (like most Meanwell drivers). The moonlights seem to operate from 10 to 0 though, so the blues end up looking like they can dim to 0%.

Does "pink effect" change the wavelength?
Hey guys, I've been trying to add more spectrum into my LED build and was looking into this: 3W UV 420nm-435nm with pink effect
Does anyone have a clue as to what this "pink effect" is? I'm thinking it may just be a tint to the lens? If so, will it effect the wavelength at all? The specs do state 420-435nm which is what I want. All I'm concerned about is adding the spectrum for coral pigment rather than the what color my tank will look. Any insight is greatly appreciated, thanks! |
