I don't really like the color at the moment. I'm going to replace the aqua pinks with 2 coral plus. Good idea?

It will cut down on the red in the tank. So if it is too purple/pink right now, you will love the Coral Plus.

Well, the new fixture is here! I am literally walking out the door right now to go to dinner so I will upload pictures and more first impressions when I get home.

Please follow my review in my build thread!

Thanks!

Hello all.

I've skimmed through some of this thread but I think I'm more confused now than when I started.

I have a Coralife Aqualight T5ho Lunar (4 bulbs) fixture that I'm looking to upgrade the bulbs on. I have an LPS/Softie 48" 75 gallon tank with most of the coral in the front half. I'm looking for the best combo of bulbs that will give me that color/pop that everyone loves but I also want my corals to grow and thrive.

Also, do you recommend switching out one bulb a week for acclimation or some other schedule?

Thank you.

-Michael

1 Coral +
2 Blue +

And either another Blue+, Coral+, or UVL Actinic depending on if you want a bluer tank, whiter tank, or fluorescent tank.

I have 2 C+ 2 B+ and its a nice icy cool white with a Blue undertone... Id imagine 3B+ 1C+ would be 18k-20k.

Hey guys!

I've just changed my setup on my 260 gallon tank from a canopy with 5 Orphek PR-156 LED panels to a hanging setup with only three of the panels.

The tank is 60'' long and I'm wondering what would be the best bulbs to run in addition to the white / blue LED setup I'm currently running. My tank is 36'' deep, and home to both SPS as well as LPS.

I was told by BigE two ATI coral+ and two ATI blue+, just looking for someone to second that. I just wanted to make sure that I'll have every spectrum necessary covered with the T5 supplements above.

Also, any opinions on who makes a decent 60'' fixture? I'm either going to buy 2 x 2 bulb, or 2 x 3 bulb. I'm assuming if I get the three bulb fixtures, I should just grab another C+ and B+ bulb each.

Thanks for any feedback.

Colton

I second that. As I reported in this thread recently, I am now using 3 B+ and 3 C+ and love the combination.

I don't know of any 3 bulb fixtures. Or any good 2 bulb for that matter.

I'd go with the 2 blue plus and 2 coral plus as well. That will really bump the spectrum for you.

Aquatic life link able units seem to get good reviews on their reflectors. Seems the timers and moonlights often fail though so I wouldn't go for those models.

ugh. I'd like the dimmable but they don't make a 60'' :/

Also, I'm barely going to have room for one unit- the way I did my ceiling anchors I was expecting to run the LED panels down the middle and have 1 2-bulb unit in front / behind.

Well, I guess I'll be angling it in slightly. The plus side is that it will help block the LED light from blinding anyone looking at the tank. : D

A 48" unit will cover a 60" tank with no problem. Bulbs will also be cheaper this way.

Would a 48 inch black solar T5 HO-8x54 watt + moonlights work for a 75 gallon mixed reef tank? Would it support health and growth of all corals? Please help!

It is a standard size 75.

Why? Are you going to an all new lighting setup? The aquatic life linkable 2 bulb units would work out well.

would they?

I really only need supplemental T5- not the full shebang. If I can buy the 2 x 2bulb units I'd much prefer it, I've just seen some bashing on those units.

Plus the dimming feature isn't available I don't believe.. a nice caveat to have.

I'll have to think it over.

The dimming is cool but not needed at all.

For supplementing some LEDs? Hardly.

Dear god, I'm a flip-flopper.

I'll go with the Aquatic Life Linkable. The sizing is a whole lot more friendly versus my toggle-bolt ceiling mounts, and I won't have an extra set of holes in my ceiling that aren't being utilized.

Thank you for talking me down from the cliff Ryan. Your feedback is much appreciated!

Colton
