What is this?
I set up my reef tank again and got about 30 lbs of live rock from a friend. I also used 40 lbs of agra alive bahamas live sand. This morning I wake up and see this thing covering one of my hermit crabs. When I shined a flashlight on it it slivered away. No idea what it is and the hermit crab did not survive the encounter. Not sure if it was hiding on the rock or the packaged live sand.Any help is appreciated.

Polyclad flatworm. It's a killer. You'll want to remove it if you want to keep snails, clams and other sensitive inverts in your system.

What are they?
I have a few of these on my glass and overflow box. Should I be troubled?

Hey guys, with my lights out I used my flash light to give a quick look over my tank. I noticed a very fast moving dark bug like thing run across my sand and into my liverock. I only saw it for a split second but it reminded me of a role-poly. Do I need to be concerned if it's a black one. Almost all pics I've seen here are of white translucent varieties. Keep in mind I cannot say for certain it was a roly-poly. Ot was also rather large say 3-4 mm if not 5mm. I know without a pic I'm fishing for a needle in a hay stack but im hopin someone has a pic of something based on my description

Could be an Amphipod. Colors can vary a bit.
Mostly just shades of tan to dark brown. https://www.google.com/search?q=amph..._AUoAQ&dpr=1.5 |

Greetings Gurus of Weird and Awesome Creatures,
I'm pretty sure this is a young stomatella snail, though my son thinks (hopes, more likely) that it is a nudibranch. Can anyone confirm/deny? Thanks! |

He will be excited. Me, not so much as I hear many are very unfriendly to coral. Any ideas as to type?

I have no clue, but a large majority of the nudibranchs we find are not reef safe.
Maybe these links will help. http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2005-05/rs/index.php http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2004/10/inverts http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2004/12/inverts |

Thanks. Yes, after some searching and quick reads looks like it's going to be nigh impossible to ID a non descript white slug/nudibranch looking creature. Will have to keep an eye on it.

Ok, here's a weird one. If it wasn't underwater I'd say it was some sort of centipede as it has multiple legs.

Hi folks. This came with (or rather in) a coral fragment. Is that a bristle worm? Should it stay or go?
