After reading this post I pulled out my Cole Parmer that I had in reserve and put it to use on the calcium reactor. I am running a 1000 gallon tank,1300 total volume with a Deltec PF 1001 calcium reactor. I just set up the reactor as the tank is now 4 months old and SPS growing like algae. What would be a good recommended effluent rate and starting bubble count to maintain effluent somewhere in the range of 35... All help surely apprecitated.
By the way is your screen name associated with any type of fraternity?
Sorry for my pitiful picture skills
Awesome! Welcome aboard

I have run reactors that big on systems like that but never with one of these pumps. Honestly from memory it was a steady stream of water and gas. I would bet you will be in the 75-150ml/min range and enough gas flow to keep ~6.5ph depending on media. Daily testing is in order.

I have recently purchase this Chinese pump which has a stepper motor to use with my Korallin C1502, I have also purchased a spare motor as I dont know how long it will last, using it at 70ml/min right now. I was not able to find a used cheap CP and had no choice and ordered this chinese model. The problem is I use freight forwarders to ship my aquarium supplies to Saudi and I cannot take chances of ordering things which I will have to return.

Yes it runs continuously, the unit can take quite a few different size tubes to match with desired output

For starters it's 220V.

IMHO, don't waste your money, they look like masterflex knockoffs and you can get a used Masterflex unit for less.

Could someone list the brushless models. I am looking for 1 to run a GEO 618. Should I just be looking for the digital model or will the 1 adjustable with knob work also. All help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Mike

Thanks, but I would like a digital model. most of the master flex models even on ebay are well over the cost of this uint. this is also the same company that makes these units.

I picked up an older, bulkier, "digital-static" model, for around $60 like new condition to my door. They are very often available in the $150 range. Just have to keep an eye out and be patient.

Thanks, Mike

In the brushless line the most commonly available units are model numbers 7523-60, 7550-30, 77301-20, and 77301-30.

It really depends on budget and noise requirements. I prefer brushless. They are silent. If its in a garage or fish room it may not make much of a difference. The brushless units will likely outlast the brushed units but the cost difference and availability is substantial. Most of the digital units on ebay are not brushless so you really need to do some homework or ask here if what you are looking at is the right thing. You can always call cole parmer if you need an instant answer, they are very helpful.

Stepper motor pumps are great but what concerns me about a lot of them are the pump heads. Time will tell how they hold up. I would definitly look into replacement parts that may wear to protect your investment. Steppers should last a long time, especially under our use.

Sorry for my lack of participation lately, I've been sick the better part of the last 3 months... I'm really tired most of the time so I don't get a whole lot done in my free time. Hopefully better days ahead

The unit description has it listed as 110 - 220v and has a picture of an American plug.. The brand is pretty popular on European and Australian forums fwiw. It seems like a good deal so I'd say your going to have to be the Guinea pig =)..

Are Watson Marlow pumps any good. A guy in South Africa has one for sale. It took him over a year to get it working because the extra stuff you need to run with it.

It took a year because it was broken or because he wasn't sure what components to use with it? I don't have any experience with them but have heard good things.

I'm looking at a cp unit that runs 10-600 rpm. However, I did noticed in the beginning to get one that runs 6-600. Have you needed to run under 10 rpm in any circumstance?
